I worked at First Tennessee Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Telecommuting often and encouraging work life balance, investing in upgrading facilities, well maintained equipment that gets fixed quickly

    Cons

Nearly constant reorganizing in many of the internal departments, lack of awareness in industry and business trends, benefits are not great, seems like everyone in the bank is moving in their own direction and eating up resources to achieve their vision without much unity around centralized processes or tools, pay is low compared to other comparable positions in the industry with little room for advancement.

Also, separately, you do not receive vacation until April of your first year, and even then it is 5 days for your first year. If you are hired in the summer, this leads to nearly 8-10 months with no vacation time, then another 12 months with only 5 days which equates to a week of vacation time in your first 12-23 months. Then, it is 2 weeks for your first decade at the bank. This is embarrassing for a modern business. Raises are low for most non-management employees, and there's no bonus structure in place even when the bank does well unless you are a manager.

    Advice to Management

Streamline processes, give incentive bonuses to ALL employees (not just management -- they aren't the only ones towing the line), define your internal teams and departments much more clearly so that multiple processes aren't created using different tools for each department.

I worked at First Tennessee Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I would say that it's a good work environment, everyone usually works together as a team. The health/vision/dental and life insurance plans are always good as well.

    Cons

Pay is low compared to other local banks

    Advice to Management

I would advise management to consider increasing the base pay. There are several opportunities to get bonus pay, but it still doesn't make up the difference of other banks' base pay.

    Pros

Great company to work for. They care about their employees. Great benefits. The longer you work there, the more advantages.

    Cons

They make it seem like commission is going to be easily attainable, but unless you are in a great market, you have to create your own business or sell, sell, sell to make your goals.

    Advice to Management

Be up front on the amount of selling that is involved with this job. I was told there would be some selling, but I didn't realize it would be something I had to relay and explain if I didn't make daily goals.

I worked at First Tennessee Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working mom friendly. Training is very focused. Most employees in the financial centers work as a team. If you are a good sales person you can advance.

    Cons

Way too pressure to sell. They want you to push investment appointments even if you have to ask the same customers everyday. It is pushing customers away.

    Advice to Management

Focus on great service that people can't get anywhere else!!
