I worked at First Tennessee Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working at First Tennessee was wonderful, because I actually did two jobs - editor of eNews and manager of the charitable foundation. This was the perfect blend for me, combining my love for the community with my creative writing skills. It also gave me the chance to work with terrific people. I have remained friends with many First Tennessee co-workers. That is a tribute to the character of the people who work there, because in other jobs, people gradually lose contact with one another.

    Cons

In the last five years, I've learned so many life lessons. I only wish I had learned them while I worked there, not after. I would have been a better employee!

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. You are beloved by the Memphis community.

I have been working at First Tennessee Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great leadership and coaching.

    Cons

Work the occasional Saturday. Training is sub-par for normal entry banker level.

    Advice to Management

Training needs to be more robust on the front end. Focus training on L.I.D. elements so we can better sell our other business products-quicker- instead of just checking, savings and CD accounts.

I have been working at First Tennessee Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid vacation and sick time. You do have the option to get health insurance, but its kind of expensive. My regional is great!

    Cons

Just not the same company I started with. Most branch employee's are unhappy with their job. A Lot of people in management who should not be.

    Advice to Management

It's not the same company I started with 2 years ago. You can tell it's a medium size bank trying to be large via acquisitions. Pay your employees better.

    Pros

Great starting pay for college students.

    Cons

Too much favoritism amongst management. No room for advancement unless you brown nose. Raises are a joke.

    Advice to Management

Give people a chance meaning those who arent your inner circle of friends.

I worked at First Tennessee Bank (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, friendly coworkers and dedicated executives.

    Cons

Company focuses heavily on sales, even for operations staff which sometimes hurts customer service.

    Advice to Management

cross-training is great, but front line employees need to focus on operations or sales, not both.
