I worked at First Tennessee Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working at First Tennessee was wonderful, because I actually did two jobs - editor of eNews and manager of the charitable foundation. This was the perfect blend for me, combining my love for the community with my creative writing skills. It also gave me the chance to work with terrific people. I have remained friends with many First Tennessee co-workers. That is a tribute to the character of the people who work there, because in other jobs, people gradually lose contact with one another.

    Cons

In the last five years, I've learned so many life lessons. I only wish I had learned them while I worked there, not after. I would have been a better employee!

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. You are beloved by the Memphis community.

I worked at First Tennessee Bank (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, friendly coworkers and dedicated executives.

    Cons

Company focuses heavily on sales, even for operations staff which sometimes hurts customer service.

    Advice to Management

cross-training is great, but front line employees need to focus on operations or sales, not both.

I have been working at First Tennessee Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nothing yet to say anything positive.

    Cons

With the merger of Capital Bank, 1st Tenn is throwing an extraordinary amount of material quickly to learn properly. Benefits are fair despite what anyone says. All they have is an HSA. Can’t rate anything else yet. It’s not starting off well.

    Advice to Management

Allow much more training before merging.

I have been working at First Tennessee Bank full-time

    Pros

Flexible work schedule; caring managers; good coworkers; 100% paid maternity leave for 8 weeks.

    Cons

Poor, overpriced healthcare options; low vacation plan, even for salaried employees; no bonus; slow wage growth.

    Advice to Management

Become a competitive employer again. The low growth in wages does not offset the increasing cost of healthcare. Provide career growth opportunities, especially to advance within 5 years. Set bonus opportunities to make the increasing workloads appear opportunistic.

    Pros

    Compensation is overall fair
Some opportunities to grow if you're in the right circles

    Cons

    expensive benefits package
overall culture is good in most areas but still issues with cliques and favoritism

    Advice to Management
