I worked at First Texas Homes full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The lies in the interview about the family environment and longevity just hook to get you to work for them. When you walk in the hallways, people will not even say hi. They hate salespeople at corporate.

    Cons

Zero life-work balance for sales. Lose 20% commission if you buyers don't turn in final structural changes within 2 weeks of contract, $1,000 fine for opening model late, if your assistant makes a mistake on pricing, you pay 100% of the RETAIL cost, not the actual costs, if you take over a deal and these the former sales made a mistake; YOU pay for it out of the commission. Training is provided by tired, overworked sales staff, management yells and is demeaning—terrible work environment when dealing with management. The commission is reduced if there is a realtor on the purchase.

I worked at First Texas Homes full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The job as a warranty rep was the easiest job I have ever had, as long as you stay on top of the needs of the customers. Compensation was about right for the position, if you worked hard enough you could make a lot of extra money using the bonus system. I also enjoyed most of the people that I worked with. I would only recommend this place to work if you really need a job and a paycheck.

    Cons

Benefits are terrible. Health insurance, for my family, would have cost about half my salary a month. They do offer cheap health insurance for the employee just not the family. Enrollment into the 401K plan expires 30 day after employment, so you have very little time to do proper research and establish yourself prior to applying. Technology, this company was so far behind the time. They required written reports for everything and everything had to be faxed into the main office. Bonus checks are hand delivered to each work site once a month. I have heard now (2019) that they finally have ipads for some of the work but nothing else is up to date.

I worked at First Texas Homes full-time

    Pros

Employed although they failed to deposit my check TWICE

    Cons

Working with a bunch of people who are insensitive to other cultures, overhearing someone be told they could easily be replaced, working with rude people, worst of all working with liars

    Pros

    Fun staff and creative environment.

    Cons

Unorganized processes that are inconsistent. Sales staff and management need to work on better customer service, particularly having more patience with customers and wearing their irritation on their sleeve.

I have been working at First Texas Homes full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The best company I've ever worked for. Great management. The owner, president, and operations manager truly care about their employees. A perfect example of how hard you work is how far you will get. I think if anyone is not happy at this company, it's because of their own lack of initiative and drive. If you feel stuck in this company, it's because you aren't trying hard enough. I can't say enough good things.

    Cons

Some of the people working here, not the management, should have been gone a loooong time ago. With the tech age we live in, the outdated people who refuse to learn anything new should just retire or move on. Anyone not willing to change to keep up with the times, is just selfish and should be replaced. Several examples of that here.
