    Pros

There are few advantages to working for this company

    Cons

This company supports a hostile work environment and repetitively used unfair labor practices.

    Advice to Management

When a contract has a high employee turn over, it may just be an out of control management. Employees deserve to feel safe from retaliation, Human Resources does not have their employees backs.

I worked at First Transit (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Only work here if you have no other options. The passengers are mostly great but the company insists on finding ways to ruin the job.

    Cons

Management wants it to be the military. They are not able to think for themselves and have zero communication skils. They expect drivers to be mindless robots who never need a break or need to use the toilet.

Management is unethical. They regularly ignore state laws, OSHA and BOLI regulations, falsify documents, verbally abuse employees, physically threaten employees. Sexism and racism are rampant.

there are no good things about this place

    Cons

Tech in charge didn't know a single thing about working on buses. I asked him what he wanted me to torque the wheels at on a full size bus and he said 150 lb-ft. wow, really?

    Advice to Management

place knowledgeable techs in charge at First student

    Pros

Working for First Transit in the TriMet Paratransit Lift program is very rewarding because you are truly making a difference in the lives of people you serve.

    Cons

They have three paratransit bus yards contracted with TriMet in Portland, OR. Two are union yards, one is not. They aquired all three yards differently and operate them differently. Different pay structures and different discipline policies. Make sure that you apply at one of the union yards or you could get laid off or have a wage freeze put into affect. The union yards, you can't get fired or laid off for no or little reason.

    Advice to Management

Ask for some feedback from drivers about what kinds of bids to put together as far as days off, hours etc and you'll have a lot more drivers satisfied with what days and hours they need to work.
