I have been working at FirstCare Health Plans full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Firstcare is a nice mid-size company that is in the process of transitioning into a better culture.

    Cons

I have been with the company a few years and it seems like areas such as facilities and purchasing are still in the stone ages and not service friendly, do not go above and beyond. More of a gossip gallery then embracing the culture the company is in the process of transitioning to. Always a problem not willing to go outside the box.

    Advice to Management

Make changes where needed to get the company where it is trying to go.

    Pros

FirstCare has a great family environment, and offers a competitive pay and benefits package. They are always working toward improvements in technology and communication. This company is run by people who care about their employees and their customers!!

    Cons

Really not much downside, if there are problems, they try very hard to fix them. We have had issues over the years, but they've always made every effort to get them corrected.

    Advice to Management

    Perhaps consider increasing PTO time??

    Pros

Flex schedule, compensation, understanding management team, gratifying work, great people to work with, input is always welcome, excellent health benefits, challenging work!

    Cons

Some people are only here for a paycheck - that shows in the outcome of their work. Management is very willing to get these people on the right track but i think sometimes people are just not cut out for the job and need to be let go. If your hearts not in it you don't belong here!

    Advice to Management

Management does an incredible job; however, it's time to be strickter on the slackers and let people who really take pride in their work to show off this great company!

    Pros

excellent benefit package, good salary, plenty of time off

    Cons

communication between officies and levels could be better at times

    Advice to Management

Cliff said one time- when you give out info, think who needs to know and who will this affect then make sure they know the info and have input into whether it will really work. Good ideas don't always equal good plans

I have been working at FirstCare Health Plans full-time

    Pros

FirstCare is a company that is dedicated to Texas and to its employees. They are constantly looking for ways to improve and to increase efficiency. The work environment is good and people are friendly. I would recommend this company as a great place work for.

    Cons

In the past FirstCare has struggled to remained focused and on task but with new management this has been an area of improvement.

    Advice to Management

Now that the leadership team is in place be diligent to keep this team stable. It is very detrimental to the company to have turnover in the senior leadership positions.

I have been working at FirstCare Health Plans full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This company is very family oriented and community based. The company cares about it's employees and is constantly trying to think of ways to better the overall moral of the employees.

    Cons

Right now the company is on a road to bigger and better and with that brings on a lot of changes.

    Advice to Management

Continue to ask employees for ideas. You never know how the employees could enhance the company. By just going with things from upper management, you will never allow employees below the upper management pay grade to get to their potential.
