    Pros

Promotions from within. Willing to help learn.

    Cons

Aging workforce. No investment in workforce development. Low ceiling.

    Advice to Management

Focus on company culture. Increase hiring, especially of recent grads. It would boost sharing of ideas and a new look at an old industry.

I worked at FirstEnergy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Salaries are fair.
Co workers are nice- mostly old ready to retire.
    Flexible work hours
    Dress code is business casual

    Cons

Not progressive or forward thinking. Very little advancement opportunities unless you know someone or are part of the good old boys club

    Poor work environment.

Staff reductions and no rehires. Just more workload for existing employees

Older employees although nice , pretty disengaged- ready to leave.

    Lots of dead wood

    Advice to Management

Get with the times. Young people aren't interested in your dinosaur mentalities

I worked at FirstEnergy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good salary upon initial hire, challenging work, job security, it pays the bills. Co-workers are great!

    Cons

Many Managers are not engaged. Individual chosen for Supervision lack leadership and technical skills. Once hired inside the company, it is a good old boy network with what staff referred to as smokers and jokers. That is a major problem in improper decisions, promotions and raises. Producers and commitment are not recognized criteria and it results in most part in an unhappy work environment.

    Advice to Management

Start making the right decisions and choices by recognizing the real contributors and not drinking buddies.

    Cons

They are very demanding of a person's time above and beyond reasonable use.

    Advice to Management

Instead of demanding a person be immediately available 24/7/365, devise a duty schedule for employees so there is more predictability to off-hours call-ins.
