    Pros

    Good pay and good benefits

    Cons

They are very demanding of a person's time above and beyond reasonable use.

    Advice to Management

Instead of demanding a person be immediately available 24/7/365, devise a duty schedule for employees so there is more predictability to off-hours call-ins.

    Pros

Financially aggressive. politically saavy, huge footprint on the industry

    Cons

Impersonal, cold, ruthless; both internally and externally. Even the "Good ole' Boys" aren't safe. These people eat thier own!

    Advice to Management

Realize that any success First Energy has is a result of dedicated employees. Some of those may not tow the party line, but every one of them is important.

I worked at FirstEnergy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent compensation. Generally there are solid practices in place to ensure the work is done properly. Ample experienced employees to guide the less experienced staff. The people who have longevity with FE are the best group to work with, hands down.

    Cons

Experience and wisdom is not valued. The young and "high potential" employees tend to get paid equally or more than those who have 10+ years in the job and at higher levels, doing more complex work. If you haven't been identified as a high potential by the time you are 40, be prepared to be ostracized as "not the right fit for current team dynamics" and passed over in lieu of less experienced, but conformist (i.e. young and impressionable who will never step up and give their honest, but respectful opinion or advice) type of employees. The influence of the high-pos are turning the company into "The Emperor's New Clothes".

    Advice to Management

Value all employees and select the most qualified candidates for jobs. Those who have worked hard who are willing to give honest and respectful feedback are your assets and only enhance work teams.

I have been working at FirstEnergy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

FirstEnergy is a great place for call center experience. Fast paced and opportunities to grow in the different levels of customer service. The availability of information for procedures and regulations on the company intranet site is very resourceful and helpful. Great team members to assist in difficult situations.

    Cons

Limited opportunities past the CSR tier III level. Supervisor assistance is available but the procedure required to get to the supervisor can take too long which affects the stats that we are required to attain. Repetitive natures of calls and scripting makes the job very boring and almost unbearable. Verbal attacks from customers can be veracious and degrading. Must be thick skinned and able to let it "run off your back", which is the theme of all the supervisors. As a person who does not accept personal attacks well, biting my tongue was a daily activity. The pay is not worth the insults. Good if you have bills to pay while looking for another job.

    Advice to Management

    Remember where you started.
