I worked at Fiserv full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots to learn, good experience in the finance industry, always work to do to stay busy. Allowed me to move out of state to pursue my goals.

    Cons

Manager in Portland did not understand the reach of their role. Could have been more flexible with corporate rules for good employees instead of treating them like children because they only saw black and white. My manager told me they didn't know if they had to fire me or not because of health/attendance problems. Then told me their boss told them it was their call. Working with me in the first place would have prevented the situation from occurring.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to handle exceptions to rules and make sure all managers treat employees fairly and the same.

    Pros

Management let’s the team work autonomously. Enjoyed working with SAP

    Pros

    - Good pay
    - Friendly people
    - Friendly work environment
    - Professional

    Cons

    - Never ending night/weekend work at the last minute.
    - Absolutely NO real consideration for work life balance.
    - Projects are constantly late due to a clash of unrealistic expectations/heavy processes.
    - Management is checked out, eithe due to being overloaded or who knows what.

    Advice to Management

Adjust your expectations to meet your stringent processes.
Staff for a 24x7 operation and stop expecting your day time engineers to work around the clock and at the last minute.

I worked at Fiserv full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Business units operate virtually independently. Salaries are good and culture is typically laid back.

    Cons

Legacy BU staff can make you feel like you are working for a different company within the same company.

I have been working at Fiserv full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Salary is great. 100% remote opportunities exist depending on your department. I work with great coworkers and management. Work/life balance is great. So far, it is the best company I ever worked for.

    Cons

The biggest con is the company is slow to adopt new technology and it is currently paying to price through lost market share to competitors in some areas of the fintech industry. Because of this, there have been a round of layoffs last year that caught a lot of people off guard. Improvements are slowly being made. Health benefits have high deductibles. There seems to be a lot of turnover/reorganization in upper management positions. They use to offer bonuses, but not anymore.

    Advice to Management

Continue to embrace new tech that makes getting the job done easier. Bring back bonuses.

    Pros

Healthy work life balance and benefits.

    Cons

They rarely promote into leadership positions. More than a 10% raise requires approval from the CEO. Annual layoffs in February.

    Advice to Management

Regular layoffs are not a great way to manage finances.
