Organization without vision and leadership

Some products are awesome for clients which solves
Cons
Lack of vision and investment on people and products. After acquisition Inherited first data leadership got no idea how to sell and invest orginal fiserv products and as a organisation everyone is suffering. Policies to bring employees back to office is poorly communicated and implemented without any idea of how people are suffering due to inflation and real world problem after covid .

Going downhill ever since First Data merge
Jun 25, 2020 - Software EngineerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Team was great, very knowledgeable people that can be very dependable, open to learning and giving advice of their own. Middle managers were wonderful in giving the best opportunity that they could for their employees and will back them up.
Cons
There's definitely a little truth to the sayings that First Data bought Fiserv, not the other way around, and stole the branding. First Data is not the most reputable company and absolutely does not care for their employees. Worse, they don't trust them. So spyware is installed on PCs to make sure you're working, time tracking is enforced for every hour of the full 40 hours, everything but the absolute bare minimum is blocked on the network (No social media, no personal emails, Stack Overflow was blocked for a little while until they caved from the massive backlash). Layoffs are now very frequent and you're nothing more than a number for that, with absolutely no regards to performance, coming from higher-ups. Middle managers just shrug and say they had no say. I've seen some of the best employees, full of passion and working for a long time, 'let go' because they were technically the lowest position in the team. The corporate bureaucracy is the worst I have ever seen. Often forced to use some infrastructure or proprietary integration because it's some exec's baby, even if it's absolutely terrible and a common point of failure.

First data merger proved wrong and everyday is uncertain

I can't think of one
Cons
Post first data merger following inevitables took place: 1. Mass layoff across all locations which reduced employees morale, trust in a company 2. All senior veterans were shown an exit door by the new management including then CEO 3. Post merger, management has gone to First Data side and they shown how worst a firm can be by way of putting stress on everyone 4. Within Fiserv, there are 2 entities are running one is Old Fiserv and other one is earlier First Data. New management heavily biased towards old Fiserv 5. Everyone is living in uncertainty. Techies were given a test, failing to clear the test will lead to the termination without mercy 6. Good old employees friendly policies of Fiserv replaced by employer friendly First Data policy 7. Too much pressure on each level of employees. No one trusts anyone. No retention attempts by the company. 8. Sapiens tool only for Fiserv employees to monitor log in time, failing to do so will lead to termination directly. 9. Culture of a company has shifted drastically to a service / start up nature 10. No importance to domain expertise and product managers due to dissolve of BA CoE 11. Join with your own risk and definitely not a good firm to grow for experienced and skilled

Pros
Used to be a good company to work for pre First Data merger
Cons
Horrible CEO from First Data took over a few years ago and it’s been a downhill trajectory ever since. His biggest priority is looking at employees card swipes to see who was in the office when. Toxic environment, terrible employee morale.

Just meh

Depending on your role - majority of associates are returning back to the office. This is not the future. If you thrive in a setting where an office culture defines you then expect to be on top of your colleagues sharing a pod / open space. Fiserv positions + prides itself in being a FinTech, customer first leader. There are good managers throughout the organization, but not leaders, who provide genuine leadership. So many pockets of Fiserv that know their space and have the ability to innovate but will be another ten years before it's realized. If you are willing to wait it out and adapt - this is a good place to hang your hat; pending where you are in your career.
Cons
No direction from senior leadership. Mid-managers running around like chickens with their heads cut off. New CEO and his gang only care about WS numbers and paying down First Data debt. Everyday there is turnover and technology issues. No clear direction across division lines and lots of infighting. Advice ... just manage up and play the game. Benefits are below average. Wiser to seek an alternative investment strategy and retirement plan. Perks are not worth any weight in gold.

Pros
I used to love working at Fiserv, I have been here for 4 years now and I wasn't planning on leaving soon! Fiserv used to be dynamic, flexible, empowering, trusting and optimistic! It was not perfect, but it’s always been improving and aspiring to be a better place. For 6 years in a row, Fiserv has been selected as the one of the most admired companies to work for, by FORTUNE Magazine. This is an outcome of the diligent work by the CEO and the leadership team on creating a positive culture of engagement, nurturing of talent and valuing and trusting associates. We have managed many acquisitions over the years and every time new associates come on board, they instantly embrace the orange experience and become part of this big orange family! All of this have changed with the acquisition of First Data (contrary to what some believe, it is an acquisition, not a merger)! Original First Data leadership style is transactional and feels like we are back in the 1970s. Bureaucracy, office politics and brown-nosing are becoming the norm. With plans to end flexibility and work from home, the leaders from First Data can only trust associates to be working when they are at a desk in a Fiserv office. They promote a culture of order and militant structure where associates can only fit in when they play by the rules (compromising innovation, agility, engagement, and growth). Most First Data associates were excited about the closing of the deal, many decided to stay hoping that Fiserv will bring a positive change and transform their culture. They are as alarmed as we are that First Data's culture is taking over. There is a reason why First Data was failing! It wasn't their products or technology, and it wasn't the capabilities or skills of their associates! It was their culture! If we want Fiserv to remain one of the most admired companies to work for, our CEO needs to intervene quickly and save our culture!
