I have been working at Fisher Investments full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Competitive wages Great benefits (nothing comes out of your pay check for health coverage) Fun culture

      Cons

Long hours (10 hours mandatory; during the fall months there’s extremely high work flow so your looking at 11+hour days)

      Advice to Management

Higher more so you can spread out the work load. Right now it’s an extremely demanding role so be ready to work non stop.

I have been working at Fisher Investments full-time

      Pros

      - As a privately-held company, management can invest in the firm with a longer-term view than at public companies. - It is a global company with opportunities in both the US and internationally - getting international experience is a real plus in today's global economy. - The company puts a lot of effort in educating investors and helping them focus on what matters. - The company really cares about its clients and...

      Cons

      - Would like to see more flexibility in the work hours. - The company is investing in upgrading the technology and processes which has been needed and it is encouraging. Double-down on this. - While change is happening, it takes longer than some might like.

      Advice to Management

Keep up the focus on growth and evolving with the times while maintaining the culture. Trust and listen to your employees - you have some great talent that wants to win. Continue to invest in career development - it makes a difference.

      Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Fisher Investments full-time

      Pros

Great people - my colleagues were some of the best people I've ever met. Good training programs. Decent compensation and great benefits program.

      Cons

Fear based management system starting from CEO/owner down and cult-like corporate culture

      Advice to Management

"It's Fisher's way or the highway" mentality needs to go. Stop looking at the company through rose tinted glasses. Its toxic to the employees and stifles innovation.

I worked at Fisher Investments full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Good pay, great benefits, collaborative atmosphere.

      Cons

The "open pod" environment is not from everyone. No privacy, even the "private" rooms are glass "fish bowls" that everyone can see into. Backstabbing competition from people on your team who want to beat you in metrics. If you don't like competition, this place isn't for you.

      Advice to Management

Actually train your managers. I've seen this in multiple reviews of Fisher. The company hires managers from within, and often does little to no training to help them manage employees. I had one of the worst managers I've ever experienced, who basically just moved up into the position because she was friends with the GVP.

I worked at Fisher Investments full-time for more than 9 years

      Pros

-Opportunity to move around the firm -Solid people -Great benefits -Quality customer service -Truly look out for clients best interests

      Cons

-Long hours -Low pay -Oppressive culture -Poor management -Low investment returns -Weak bonuses even in bull markets -Portfolio managers are clueless -Too much home grown talent -Outside views are not valued -Horrible facilities, the WA office is new but the CA offices are falling apart (the bathroom stalls have doors that don't close/lock) -No flexibility of hours

      Advice to Management

Damien, I'm not sure you can, but I'd look to make changes to the Investment Policy Committee. Poor portfolio results are not acceptable, even if the PMs have been loyal to KF over the years. These guys wouldn't have jobs if they worked anywhere else on Wall Street. If you are a client of Fisher Investments I recommend you ask your Investment Counselor for a composite that includes 1,3,5,7,10 year returns.

      Pros

Company: Offers great benefits, convenient location if you live in the Peninsula, lots of different teams that offer different levels of experience within the firm, emphasizes career development for associate level employees Client Programs Team: Fun team to work with, great impact on the firm

      Cons

Takes a while to move up from the associate level - in part due to the constant rotation of management

      Advice to Management
