I have been working at Fisher Investments full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fisher genuinely offers their employees the best of the best including a competitive salary with a hard to match bonus potential, fully paid medical benefits, and generous PTO in a professional environment. Fisher’s goal is pure and simple, support employees as people first. Perhaps most attractive is the promise to allow employees to leave work at work, after the schedule day ends, work life balance is guaranteed. ...

I have been working at Fisher Investments full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

The reasons to work at Fisher are obvious - the pay is amazing and you get free benefits. The campus location in Camas is beautiful and you have the opportunity to relocate if you're in specific departments. It's a great place to work if you're in your 20's-30's because you're working around so many people who are your age, thus you have a lot in common. Management is very direct and feedback is straightforward. Innovation...

    Cons

    - Work/life balance is non-existent with 7AM-5PM hours as a standard schedule for all employees except Investment Counselors. Some departments offer schedule flexibility in terms of 6AM-4PM or 8AM-6PM schedules, while many departments do not and many employees are left to wonder why they cannot get this option. While you are given partial PTO if needed (leave at 2PM, get paid...

    Advice to Management

    - Please make a final decision on flex scheduling - many tenured employees at the firm are now getting married and having children as they reach their late twenties - you will soon see that people cannot keep up with the 7AM-5PM schedules you require of us. Generally after 8 hours, people are no longer productive. - Get rid of the "snowflakes" you claim you are going to get rid of. Do not allow Investment Counselors...

I worked at Fisher Investments full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

The people - Fisher hires great people. During my time working here, I met a lot of interesting people who I will hopefully stay connected with for years to come Benefits - one of the best 401k matching programs I have seen (despite long vesting period) and insurance plans (full premiums covered) Internal training - internal training is very structured and rigorous. Be prepared for multiple hours of training sessions...

    Cons

Role selection - as an entry-level employee, you have very little input into what your position/title will actually be. Interested in research? Have fun in QC. You may be expected to move horizontally multiple times before you are promoted to a higher-level (and ultimately, higher paying) role Pay - pay is below the market average, I would imagine this makes living in the SF market very difficult Enthusiasm - You...

    Advice to Management

    1. Learn to treat your employees better and allow them to explore opportunities within the company that actually interest them. Reward your high-performers. Foster opportunities for all employees to grow their skills (both within and outside of the organization). 2. Create a less stifling culture for your employees in order to build enthusiasm. An easy place to start here would be cutting down from mandatory 50-hour...

I worked at Fisher Investments full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Great work life balance. Benefits (401K, health insurance) were next to none.

    Cons

Very grinding - Not always a terrible thing to work hard, but the pressure is high and its hard to have much of a relationship with those you work with. Not much of a chance of vertical mobility. You will get moved around a handful of times before you get the chance to move up.

    Advice to Management

Work on allowing hard working and goal achieving employees the chance to move upward. I left because I was promised an opportunity several times and they never delivered.

I have been working at Fisher Investments full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    1. Work/Life Balance is great here...depending on the role and division you work for. They have set hours which is from 7 AM - 5 PM with an hour paid lunch. In my department, there is a mass exodus at 4:55 PM and no one is left in the office past 5:30 PM. 2. Educational Opportunities- Fisher has done a great job formulating a robust curriculum that allows employees to move laterally and vertically within the company,...

    Cons

    1. Work/Life Balance- my experience has been a very positive one in terms of work/life balance. It would be nice if all of the positions were a standard 8 hour work day as i think it is unnecessary to have your employees scheduled for 10 hour days. My understanding though is that it depends on the type of role you are in. The sales division...

    Advice to Management

    1. Allow more opportunity to move within the company faster. 2. Shorten the work day to normal 8 hour days. 3. Foster more vertical movement than lateral. 4. Increase salary potential to stay more competitive with other companies.

I have been working at Fisher Investments full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Work life balance. 40 hour work week every week without exception. They literally force you off the computer if you are trying to stay late. Great compensation. Most leads are qualified. 20 days of PTO. Health insurance. Dental/Vision 50% 401k match up to a maxed out 401k You don’t even have to close.

    Cons

High activity level. Dealing with lots of rejection. Ultimately if you are good it’s an incredible opportunity. If you aren’t a natural born sales person you will struggle with handling all the objections. Frat culture prevails here.

    Advice to Management

If someone funds 100 clients for 100 million give them senior AE. The base hasn’t been adjusted in almost two decades.
