I worked at Fishman and Tobin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good solid company. Built on a very good foundation of business. To me management was very fair and receptive to new ideas.

    Cons

Don't have too much bad to say. I left company due to a change in sourcing at that particular time.

    Pros

Mostly nice people in the company. I am lucky I have a good boss who understands and respects what I do to advance the company. Too many people who shouldn't be working in the company continue to do so.

    Cons

Having been the only boys wear tailored apparel maker for so long company has gone soft. They finally have competition and are having a hard time adjusting. Also, being part of the Fung Group (Li and Fung) is an adjustment that has been difficult. They also rely too much on their China group from the F&T days for sourcing for garments and fabric. The China office has all the say on Asian garment factories and mills. Regardless of previous disasters they always go back to the same suppliers.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the influence of Panyu on sourcing.

I worked at Fishman and Tobin as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Direct supervisor served as a wonderful mentor and encouraged me to grow. Felt like my input was very valuable. Liked the team that I worked with directly. Office is in a good location. Even though I was "just an intern", I was given a fair amount of responsibility, felt very involved and learned a lot. Overall, I had great exposure.

    Cons

Long working hours at the office, workers dislike upper management. Expected to come in on the weekend. High turnover rate of employees. Company was not current on computer applications used by other companies in the industry. I would not work for this employer in the future, though my experience was valuable.
