I worked at Fitch full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunities to work with large, public companies.

    Cons

High turnover - layoffs annually. Two week severance. Had to sign legal forms saying I wouldn't work for WPP again.

    Advice to Management

Stop churning through employees every quarter - build and foster an office culture where people want to do good work. Explain to clients why the work you produce is the right answer. Teach the younger people how to talk to clients and put them in meetings. Give people more satisfactory work. Stop laying employees off every other quarter.

I worked at Fitch full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The designers are awesome, we all felt like we were in this crazy ride together. I made a lot of good friends, and mentors there which was a positive.

    Cons

The CEO and the leadership. The lack of creativity and "BOLD" thinking they preach but does not happen. The constant fear the instill with layoffs happening like clockwork. This design firm has quickly become a render farm. All the creatives that built all the award winning designs in the past 5 years are gone. There is no one left at the company that represents the projects they use to create.

    Advice to Management

Have compassion and morals, maybe don't lie to employees that all is well and lay off a third of the staff every two months. Especially don't lay off/ fire the leadership who built the company. No one will think of Fitch as an innovative design firm anymore. Unless that was the goal.

I worked at Fitch full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only pros that come to mind are that the lobby area has a cute vibe with an actual double decker bus from England that was cut into pieces and rebuilt in the lobby for the sole purpose of having that edgy vibe employees hope to see when they think about starting a new job.

    Cons

Promises never ever followed through on, or promised again and again with the idea that eventually they would finally come to fruition. No genuine concern for the overall morale of the office. Lots of turnover which seemingly appeared concerning yet there was always changes and everyone was told to believe that change is good, which was just another promise that was never followed through on. All talk, no follow through.

    Advice to Management

When you have good people learn to treat them with respect and kindness. The office culture is abominable and the turnover rate proves it. Sadly employees that were more long term warned probably all the new employees of the many downfalls the company had and still has; however, everyone expects that "this time will be different". When warned that it always ends in disappointment, everyone looks for that silver lining. There is no silver lining at this company and there never will be unless you're at the very very very top. The company has the potential to be great; however they're only great at illusions of grandeur - smoke and mirrors mentality and zero integrity.

    Pros

Design oriented fun company. based in London, but worldwide offices.

    Cons

some client studios are very high stress, high volume, impossible to please.

    Advice to Management

Change the culture, currently it's a revolving door.

I have been working at Fitch full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good analytical experience
Good exposure to investors and senior management at large issuers
    Team-oriented environment
    Good work/life balance
Analytical employees are very talented and enable you to learn

    Cons

Terrible technology and IT support for a large organization
Increased regulation and "check the box" tasks take up a considerable amount of analysts' time
Very bureaucratic processes required to publish research
Compensation is weak for the type of work
Difficult to get promoted at upper levels

    Advice to Management

Invest in IT infrastructure or important things will increasingly slip through the cracks. It will also improve your employees efficiency and free their time up to focus on analytical matters.

    Pros

    My co-workers are incredibly supportive.

    Cons

2D Design is not recognized amongst the company. Most of the 2D design is production work. There's little transparency amongst leadership but I think that's improving. Decision making is highly reflective of WPP's ownership of FITCH. A company that wants to and has the ability to be bold and do amazing things, but I feel is being held back tremendously.

I worked at Fitch full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not many... but I was fortunate enough to work on a few of the larger profile jobs that came in the door, despite the lack of support and guidance.

    Cons

Expect you to work 50+ hours a week, and still couldn't find the ability to hire more staff? Pay is at least 10-20k lower on average than most other firms (yet hours are higher) No work/life balance to be seen. Way too much overhead cost. Lack of leadership. No sense of caring for the employee. No training. No career development.

    Advice to Management

See the cons above, they are a huge issue. FITCH has gotten a large reputation in the industry now for being a place to just find a quick job while you look for the 'real' career job that you want. High turn-over rates should be enough evidence of this. You don't pay your staff what they deserve and you talk about elusive bonuses consistently and never follow through (not even once!). Morale is very low. Seem to higher the lowest common denominator and end up sticking managers with unskilled staff, forcing them to always pick up the slack. You get what you pay for when you look for the staff that will take the low salary!
