I worked at Fitness Connection full-time

    Pros

The people you work with on a daily basis are friendly and fun to be around. You can work out at the gym for free if you want.

    Cons

Very high sales goals with no real game plan on how to get them. If you get "promoted" to assistant manager be prepared to work 6 days a week, about 11 hours or more a day. They put you on salary and then tell you to be at the gym all day, every weekend. And because you're salary you can't take days off - because they offer no sick days or PTO. There are no medical benefits either.

    Advice to Management

Make your sales goals realistic. Give your employees some time off and pay them more if you expect them to live at the gym.

I worked at Fitness Connection part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay can be very rewarding hourly and a good manager could make everything run smoothly

    Cons

Clients aren't reliable and directly affect your pay. Management and hourly staff are on 2 completely different levels - went through 5 managers in 2 months

    Advice to Management

Personal trainers are the foundation of your operation, and they are discouraged by the poor management that limits their income.

I worked at Fitness Connection full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You have a free membership. This is literally it. It didn't take 20 words to sum up the pros, but the system has a minimum requirement.

    Cons

    1. Very long hours with little pay or you'll expect more than you are getting bc of lies to push production.
    2. Expect to be belittled and discriminated against by managment and customer w/o any ramifications.
    3. Upper management expects subordinates to "fix" all of their problems and give you little to no credit.
    4. Expect to work non stop. LITERALLY.
    5. "Homework", scripts, setting up corporate accounts, generating your own leads, and meetings.
    6. Basically sell 2,000 in their supplements by overcharging clients and lying to them, 70 memberships a month, and 6,000 a month in personal training and your job will be safe.
    7. Raises are not given unless someone is fired, quits, or is deceased. This is not a joke. Employees go years with no annual review at all. If you ask for a raise the answer is no. Even when you present your value and worth to the company.
    8. No 401k, even for managers. It's a dead end job. My advice is to never ever spend your money. Save it.

    9. I could go on and on. If you want more just check Yelp. Not everything you read is true, but you can tell what's not legit or exaggerated.

    Advice to Management

Maybe refer them to another employer. Review your own practices that you shovel feed to the cattle that are be ran through your company.

I worked at Fitness Connection full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Wait, there are pros? Uhm let's see. Yeah I got none.

    Cons

This was the worst job I've ever had. I have never walked into such an unorganized mess. I unethically got fired. I had bronchitis and I was not being paid. Literally I learned NOTHING ABOUT THE COMPANY. NOR ITS VALUE. I was told "here call and set appointments." Out of the century membership manual set up. No type of organization or operation. No one has respect for each other or their own gym. I am never going to set foot inside this facility again. Fitness Connection will never make a mark if its like this. Oh and BTW I was totally disgusted by most of the managers acting like children checking out and talking about women in such a I'll manner. I am so ashamed to have been part of this company. I would much rather work as a janitor. I have worked for another fitness facility before this and there is no comparison to how much value this company lacks.

    Advice to Management

    Sell the company.
