    Advice to Management

Five Star has 270+ communities in 30+ states. The overwhelming majority of your employees work outside of the Boston area. We don't care about your local sports teams. Please stop including them in training videos, conference calls and webinars. It makes you appear foolish and disconnected from your communities.

    Pros

Free lunch, co-workers, the residents are amazing

    Cons

Management, low pay, stressful work environment

    Advice to Management

Raise the pay, schedule enough people for shifts, take better care of the Assisted Living side of the building instead of shrugging it off like bubble gum on the bottom of your shoe... They deserve better than that. Lay off being bullies... It isn't the way to keep employees.

I have been working at Five Star Senior Living part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

decent flexibility of schedule if the boss is in a good mood that day, convenience, residents are usually nice

    Cons

they try to get you to work full time hours even as a part time employee, the workload compared to the pay is despicable, always understaffed so they hire anyone they can find even if it's detrimental to productivity, morale is very low, still cannot describe the little amount of pay for the unbelievable amount of work you have to do as a server (have to do server/food prep/utility/dishwashing work; sometimes even have to act as a PCA)
