I worked at Flanders Corporation full-time

    Pros

    > Coworkers and most line leaders are nice & do their best to make production
    > Decent pay if you don't join thru a 3rd party
    > somewhat easy work if you're trained properly
    > Some benefits
    > 50-60 hrs in the season
    > small production bonus

    Cons

    > very poor training, within 3 days you either learn their complicated constructing techniques on the job from your poor coworker who's at the same time trying to make production with the line leaders expecting a production bonus, or you're fired.
    > fiberglass, everywhere. Fiberglass in you hands, clothes, hair, and even more in the air you breathe. Many employees developed coughs and temps/newbies are never warned of the actual dangers
    > life draining. 11 hours a day for 6 days with short notice of hour changes. Doing the exact same thing everyday, standing in the exact same position and only moving for breaks.

    Advice to Management

quit hiring 3rd party temps then leaving the work of training them to people on the line. it's causing low production, extra stress, some bad quality product, and excess trash, while permanent employees who actually want/need the job do so much better.

Better train new employees, maybe add that 4th line you're talking about & slow the lines some (lineleaders are too focused on that bonus & speed up the belt, resulting in jammed machines ). You'll get better production numbers, higher quality product, and maybe people will stay when they're not burned out mid-shift.

I worked at Flanders Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Bi-weekly pay check is the only Pro.

    Cons

Poor management and processes. Target and profit driven company with disregard towards the employees. Long hours and low pay. Unhappy and negative co-workers.

    Advice to Management

Fix the Cons to create a solid employee base, unless you feel your current business model of revolving door of employees and lots of overtime are more profitable.

I have been working at Flanders Corporation full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

New owners are good, much better benefits for everyone, paid us for missed time after the hurricane, they seem to care about their employees which is a new thing here at Flanders. I heard they will invest in the factories here in Washington too.

    Cons

Metal shop work is up and down, busy 1 month, not much to do the next. Makes a person worry a bit about the long term.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up and invest in Washington.

I worked at Flanders Corporation full-time

    Pros

Large variety of departments with plenty of job opportunities for various degrees of skills and background, decent and reliable pay, decent and fair benefits, variety of shifts available, fairly local for surrounding counties.

    Cons

VERY strict with their attendance policy! Opperates on a ZERO TOLERANCE-NO FAULT point system! Doctor's notes, mandatory court appearances, legitimate family circumstances, etc.; there is no such thing as an excused tardy or absence and this policy is even more strict at the beginning of your 90 day, probationary period. I'm a single mother and within my first 90 days I was required by their company physician to stay home for 24 hours because of the Flu, then within the next few weeks both of my young children became ill and their care providers refused to allow them to stay in their care for a full 48 hours. Even with doctor's notes I was terminated for failure to comply with attendance policies.

    Advice to Management

I understand that there must be rules and guidelines in place to ensure success within the corporation, however, I feel that there is room for adjustments and exceptions within their procedures.
