I have been working at FleishmanHillard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Incredible co-workers. Everyone is very intelligent and gets the work done. You also get the chance to work on some top-notch clients, including Fortune 10.

    Cons

Leadership varies by client - some will go to bat for you no matter what, while others are quick to throw you under the bus. The smart thinking from employees rarely gets in front of clients - they are very cautious on how things are done, and aren't the best about moving with the times. St. Louis is the HQ, and is very corporate, though smart changes are being made.

    Advice to Management

Training is important at all levels - not just interns.

I have been working at FleishmanHillard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of emphasis on building a culture
    Great management at GM level
    Strong momentum
Recently introduced attractive overtime and vacation policies

    Cons

    Lots of change
    Senior management heavy
    Long promotion/raise cycle
    Not enough middle management

    Advice to Management

Consider a shorter promotion/raise cycle for mid-junior level employees. Currently, there is one opportunity for promotions and raises a year. Missing a raise because of poor business performance at a group level, (a result of senior management) can put FH mid-junior level employees at a large disadvantage in comparison to PR pros at other agencies.

I have been working at FleishmanHillard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

New CEO and leadership are making a lot of efforts to improve overall company culture and business goals

    Cons

Groups and managers lack structure and organization. Junior people are often overlooked and not given opportunities for growth. Junior people are also overworked and under compensated.

    Advice to Management

Hire people who are actually creative and not just workhorses

    Pros

Smart people, experienced leaders in the industry and lots of opportunities to grow for the younger generation.

    Cons

As with any large company, there can be feelings of being disconnected with other teams. If you end up not really finding a group of friends, you can easily feel isolated and a bit lonely.

    Advice to Management

Try to pay attention to the happiness levels of the employees, make sure they're being challenged and heard.

I have been working at FleishmanHillard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Growth opportunities, good people. great variety of clients to work on, global network, looks great on a resume

    Cons

You will work lots of hours and are expected to be billable which is a very stressful tone in the office. There is very limited work life balance and you can easily take on too much work and want to explode. The creative floor is impossible to work with. They take forever, never compromise, are big headed and rude.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend truly investing in better work life balance, and turning the office into a more fun, enjoyable work environment.

I have been working at FleishmanHillard full-time

    Pros

Good experience. Working with smart people. Working on big name clients. Opportunity for those who truly bring new ideas or specialties.

    Cons

Very corporate environment. Most critiques stem from a lack of identity and a vague and maybe antiquated culture at the core. I am not sure FH knows what it is any longer. Subsequently the firm has a hard time providing clear career paths and opportunities for employees and in some cases fails to push clients to achieve more. Management isn't aligned and see things differently between groups and offices. This is often coupled with a lack of understanding to why that causes discontent or disruption. Though it seems to be changing, there is a lot of overhead. There are few financial and other incentives (re management opportunities) for junior and mid-level employees to stick it out.

    Advice to Management

Keep working on change. Make sure managers at all levels are aligned on what creates growth, and what expectations yield which rewards.
