I worked at FleishmanHillard part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Smart people, experienced leaders in the industry and lots of opportunities to grow for the younger generation.

    Cons

As with any large company, there can be feelings of being disconnected with other teams. If you end up not really finding a group of friends, you can easily feel isolated and a bit lonely.

    Advice to Management

Try to pay attention to the happiness levels of the employees, make sure they're being challenged and heard.

    Pros

Fleishman is one of those places which always stays with you even when you move on. The relationships and projects I have been able to work on will forever impact my career. It is truly a FHamily!

    Cons

I honestly can't think of any. My experience here has been nothing but positive!

I worked at FleishmanHillard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Smart people for coworkers and the chance to work on big accounts. Its a good place to gain experience and pad the resume.

    Cons

FH has no sense of culture at all, you are only worth what you are billing. Of all the jobs I have had in my life, my time at FH was my least favorite.

    Advice to Management

Managers need management training. Just because someone has been with the company for years and are great with clients does not mean they are effective managers.

I worked at FleishmanHillard (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great building location. The One Detroit Center is in the heart of Detroit.

    Cons

you are only worth what you are billing, time entry (billing what you are doing every 25 minutes) is really inefficient and their way of policing you. I had terrible managers. there was poor communication. There is no work culture. The office is filled with cliques and it's ineffective for cross-brand communication.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to effectively communicate. My director was terrible and didn't know how to speak to her co-workers effectively. Her way of communicating was to raise her voice as if she were a parent.

    Pros

    The snack cart on Thursdays!

    Cons

Was told my job would be one thing and ended up being additional duties not discussed. HR claims they talked about it, however was not the case. Presidents in Domestic States needs to gain some time of management skills, he is very rude, disrespectful and does not know how to treat or manage his employees. Wasted short lived played to work!

    Advice to Management

Get some trying....you all need it!

I worked at FleishmanHillard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Big name clients
    - Snacks on Thursdays
    - Free frozen turkey or cheesecake for Christmas

    Cons

    - Some of the worst leadership you will ever encounter in your career. If you enjoy being pandered to and treated like you are a child, this is the place for you
    - A company culture dominated by the 55+ crowd. While a lot of them are very sweet people this is not a formula for the future.
    - Accounts are horribly mismanaged leading to lots of turnover. Everybody here is in it for themselves and will throw you under the bus the first chance they get so that their department can get a dollar more in budget.
    - I've witnessed people getting bullied into quitting. Senior management couldn't care less.
    - My manager would ask me to talk trash about other employees in private
    - The disfunction here makes it impossible for them to get pretty much anything done
    - The dog and pony show they roll out to try and attract new business is sickening.

    Pros

Learned technical skills of both design and the business, great resume builder

    Cons

Unorganized, mentor program a failure, upper management functions in cliques much like high school, general mood and quality of life seems very low

I worked at FleishmanHillard (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Employees treat you like one of the team! You are paired with a mentor for the summer, who provides feedback on your work and personal growth

     - Real work with real clients (no coffee-fetching!)

     - Networking opportunities with senior management

     - Fun social events (intramural sports, team bonding events etc)

     - Intern-specific training meetings and "lunch and learn" meetings with each department

    Cons

    - Just like with any internship experience, you may be tested with "grunt-work" during the first week or so. If you can perform these tasks quickly and in their entirety, you have the opportunity to move on to more complex client work.

     - Unfortunately, not every department is looking to fill a full-time position with a former intern after the internship commences. Keep this in mind, and chat with your mentor about career opportunities.

    Pros

You really get a 360 experience and a very strong variety of work. The full-time employees are amazing resources and really stick their necks out to help!

    Cons

The workload can be heavy, but that's PR for you!
