    I have been working at Flexera Software full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Comments primarily focus on software monetization business though cultural aspects go across the business
    * King of the on premise software world
    * Great expertise and solutions for software monetization (on premise world)
    * Good people to work with
    * Work / Life Balance
    * Collaborative work environment
    * New opportunities in trend of hardware companies trying to become software centric
    * Few good external leadership hires recently that are genuinely interested in shaking up things (give them the latitude to make a difference)

    Cons

    * Core on premise market shifted dramatically, which has caused significant challenges in the recent past. So far not found relevancy and compelling value proposition for technology trends like SaaS, Mobile, Social and Internet of Things (IoT). IoT seems closest to the next phase of evolution, however the current baby steps and lip stick on pig approach is likely to fall short.
    * Milking traditional cash cows and starving innovation with relentless focus on EBITDA makes a classic case for wasted potential
    * Company's growth limitation obviously translates into limited growth and career opportunities
    * Lack of "Silicon Valley culture” to compete in the fast changing high-tech world is like bringing a knife to a gun fight

    Advice to Management

    Understand the limitations with private equity ownership model et al., however, think deep and hard as to whether the business is being set up for success for the next 5+ years

    I have been working at Flexera Software full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    the lower ranks in the company are filled with highly intelligent, friendly people who have a passion for what they do. The product itself has great potential and there are a huge amount of plans to make it even better. The workplace offers a great deal of flexibility between working from home and working in the office.

    Cons

    The road to greatness is mired by inexperienced upper Management and some key personnel who seemingly have a supernatural lock on their job even after a very long track record of failure. This inability or unwillingness of Senior Management to listen or discuss new processes with the team results in disillusionment among the employees around them and this in turn causes turn over and apathy. There have been so many broken promises of change and a "return to glory" that it has made long term employees indifferent to the honeyed words of bungie managers. The spirit of this company seems broken. And all the promises that the past has been a bad dream lose their power to heal when you can still see the monsters hiding under the bed.

    Advice to Management

    Recognize the bottlenecks in your organization. Make small, short term promises to start. Then once you have a proven track record of delivering on your word, then your grandiose future plans will carry a lot more weight. I know with the right leadership, the potential can be realized or reached.

    Pros

    Balance between work and life
    Pretty good opportunities to learn and implement new technologies
    Since the company is moving to cloud, there are chances of learning more

    Cons

    Always Focus on EBIDTA for bonus
    Sometimes the focus shifts entirely to one department and again sometimes the entire focus moves to other
    Decent benefits
    Time-Off policies needs to be improved
    Career opportunities to grow are very limited

    Advice to Management

    Many companies are at a pretty good status and still this company is running under private organizations.
