I worked at Flexsteel full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There were always opportunities to learn something new The products we were making were high quality and it instilled in me a pride in what I was doing. the pay was very good.

    Cons

Started to move most upholstery plants oversees and the company lost the right to call itself american made. Lots of workers were let go

    Advice to Management

Bring flexsteel back to the states. It is a great company with a lot of potential to do a lot of good for its employees and communities.

    Pros

Flexsteel is pretty laid back. Easy assignments. Friendly people as well as a fun atmosphere.

    Cons

No raises. Can be hectic at times. Employees try to taunt their title over you. Not much room for growth.

    Advice to Management

Do not be afraid to do away with old procedures and bring in new ones.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

A regular paycheck. Leaving to go home at the end of the day.

    Cons

Having to guess if you'll make production rate for the day. Putting made with union labor stickers on pieces that were made in a union-free factory.

    Advice to Management

Restructure, be honest to employees, never forget the hundreds that work for you outnumber you, and you can't build it all by yourself.

    I worked at Flexsteel full-time

    Pros

The benefits are decent working there, insurance was rather inexpensive and covered us well. They also do respect work/life balance if you need to handle something. They do make very nice furniture, if you can afford it.

    Cons

Just about everything else not in pros. There is little opportunity to move up unless someone retires in your dept. Pay is rather low, even for the area. Managers play definite favorites amongst employees, and you are completely dispensable if you aren't one of them. Senior managers took forever to make any kind of decision. Corporate culture/values? They don't have any, and pay lip service to it at best.

    Advice to Management

Spending money on a brand new office building a few years after shuttering outside plants and laying off workers? What kind of message do you think that sends?

    Pros

Flexsteel has decent pay, and perks such as buying their furniture for cost. The work environment is not too stressful on most days.

    Cons

I wasn't trained very well on what I was supposed to do. My direct supervisor abused her position and made me do all of my work and most of her work.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should make sure that middle management is doing it's job the way that it is supposed to be done.
