    Pros

Flexibility - you are able to work from home if you're productive enough.
Fast pace - the more customers, the better...plus, positions are usually not backfilled, especially if the position is in the U.S.. Ukraine? no problem!
Diversity - People from all over the world work here
There's a basketball court here on the San Jose campus.
    Pretty decent benefits.

    Cons

    Lower salary than market
"old boys's group" syndrome - relatively young workforce, but some who have been here stay, because they're buds with one of the executives
Hesitant to spend money that needs to be spent.
Diversity is great, but sometimes your teammates are in exotic places that sometimes require conference calls at exotic hours.
No recognition - my coworker's ten year anniversary went unnoticed.

    Advice to Management

Quit acquiring new companies until you get this one profitable enough to get the stock price above $11.

    Pros

The opportunities to work on cutting edge products is everywhere.
If you show the skills and desire to take on responsibilities, they will be given to you (carefully what you ask for).

    Cons

you must be willing to accept the constant shifting of products and projects off shore (or out of the US at least).
It's a cut dog eat dog business and the financial constraints can be brutal.
The pace is absolutely frantic so you have to know when to take a break.
Most of direction you receive comes in the form of "just get the job done so we can ship the goods"

    Advice to Management

Watch the money flow at the site level much more closely because site management doesn't.

    Pros

There are so many things needing improvement that there are enormous opportunities for those with the desire to fix things. The segmented structure allows people with specialized backgrounds and skills to optimize their position. Flextronics has lots of skill and personel diversity and could succeed greatly, if management could resolve their vision problems. Focus on training next generation leader using the Emerging Leaders program will have a long term benefit for employees and the company. Company is finally starting to recognize employees as an asset but this is still in the early stages. Flextronics is a large distributed company so there are opportunities all over the globe, depending on a person's interest and background.

    Cons

Management is not supportive of change they don't initiate so a lot of political negotiating can be required to complete even simple changes to policy or procedure. The pay structures are not as competetive as other companies. Some groups run very lean so work requirements in those groups can be difficult. There is lots of politics between different management levels and different regions. Senior management often puts their own personal interests above those of the company. Company vision and goals are financially focused without fully understanding the mechanics required to achieve the goal in a sustainable fashion. Limited focus on quality affects perceptions of the company.

    Advice to Management

Quality and excellence are the best way to drive revenues and change. Focus on these basics and support them and the company goals will be more achievable. Branding is key to organic growth. Use the vertical manufacturing sites to create branded products for external sale.

    Pros

Flextronics is a well established company that has been in the semiconductor manufacturing industry for quite a long time. They are currently doing reasonably well in the market too.
It is also a well organized company, providing very good employee health benefits and has helpful human resources personnel.
They used to have an indoor basketball gym, not sure if they still have it :-)

    Cons

I think compared to the market they do not pay that well, but they used to pay decent bonuses. Again, this is just my opinion and the general impression I had from people that I know of.

    Advice to Management

    none

    Pros

The Opportunity it provides for people in the H/W area in contract manufacturing. decent employers. Can work for life until retirement if people chose that way. Extra career oppurtunities for people who wanted to switch over to other cities/countries and if flextronics existed in that country/city. In my view this a key part

    Cons

The working hours are Long . Not much focus on Software . Sold of the Software business part to Aricent. The employee morale is not so great especially in the software line of Business.

    Advice to Management

Have a 360 degree of feedback to find out the root of hte problems . Other wise bad managers would spoil the entire environment.

    Pros

Flextronics offers the opportunity to get your foot in the door of the electronic industry as well as be part of an enormous organization with a worldwide foot print.

    Cons

Communication is not one of the strong suits and team work is absolutely misunderstood. Unfortunately being a contract manufacturer you have to look for cost reductions and compete for the last penny on the table. It's like being at the mercy of the OEM's.

    Advice to Management

Communication is critical and the job performance evaluations should not be capped. One should receive the result as it was accomplished, whether it's outstanding or poor.
More attention should be paid in establishing and following procedures.

    Pros

Large Scale, Reach and Thin Margin company. If you are in to PCB, Plastics, Mechanical and Bending Metals - This is the place for you. Treats employees well and compassionate.

    Cons

Large EMS companies treat employees as dispensable and like a factory worker (Layoff is way of life within the walls of this company). Not a place for development engineer. No innovation, management is interested in arbirtrage of component buying to shore up 3% profit with huge revenue but slim Gross Margin when compared to Google, CISCO.

    Advice to Management

The Corportation direction is EMS for its existence with no diversification, stuck in the hole forever unlike companies like MSFT, INTC, GE, IBM, CISCO and even GOOGLE that diversify depending on growth segments. There is nothing wrong with the company given their objectives and narrow vision, but tight operation - Good place for program management, Foreman and factory worker.

    Pros

Good infrastructure with lots of IT support on self develop application, many support from Quality, testing and engineering

    Cons

Lack Management attention in key area, PM support is very limited on many programs, each function manager not involve too much in the customer relation

    Advice to Management

Better resource planning and focus more on people, need more PM support on program instead on relying engineering, need more communication with customer to give clear direction to each functional group on customer requirement
