I worked at Flextronics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Simulates a good corporation with the potential for advancement. If you treat it like a temporary job, you can get about a year out of them.

    Cons

Leadership culture is to protect their positions at all costs. They do not care an ounce about helping anyone advance within the company unless it benefits them personally. Relocated families and hired talented people, used them to launch the MacPro, then cut them to show quarterly savings. Invested in uniforms for 800 employees then downsized to 200 to cut costs. Meanwhile, 600 people took their uniforms home.

    Advice to Management

Choose leaders who actually lead, have social skills, and retain talent. Do not choose leaders who fire talent to secure their own positions and empower the weak knowing they have years until they become a threat. Promote a culture of brains not a culture of monkeys. Penalize those who maliciously secure their own existence and job security unless it is you who is guilty of it which is probably why it exists. I have been working at Flextronics full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good environment, coworkers, and parking lot.

    Cons

Not organized. They will promise you they will promote you once you complete your training... bull crap.

    Advice to Management

Don't promise positions to people just to get in the company if you are not going to give it to them! Bad business!

I have been working at Flextronics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Just like the Mexican Mafia the money was decent but you really have no idea how long you will be there, it is not dependent on job performance, I received several raises and praises before my original boss got the chainsaw.

    Cons

It is a little bit more disorganized than the Mexican Mafia, It can be a lengthy fight to find out who is in control and sometimes the customers win, just be sure not to show over loyalty to one side since it might be different the next day, week or month.

    Advice to Management

Basically here in Austin it is Solectron, just with the name change, the company itself really has employee relations as a very low priority. Flextronics that I was familiar with in California actually has a pretty decent rating and is run efficiently with organized management teams. Here there is no real plan and management is corrupt.

I worked at Flextronics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Immediate management was minimally intrusive. Flexible work hours, can work from home if moderately ill. Work is not hard

    Cons

Constant unpredictable lay offs. No career development or progression path. No processes, everything done in ad hoc my hair is on fire"" environment. Gutted the health plan and then the corporation decided to pay 27 times instead of 26 times a year resulting in smaller paychecks . Lying to customers and suppliers are de facto operating procedures.

    Advice to Management

Advice? Management has made it clear that people do not matter

    "Flextronics RTS"

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Good job if you are in desperate need of a paycheck and have no other options in life and have hit rock bottom.

    Cons

*Upper management doesn't care about their associates.
*High turnover; as a result of management not caring about their associates people keep leaving the company and as a result locations are often understaffed and associates have to work harder/longer hours.
*Upper management tends to be unprofessional and makes up rules as they go despite company policy.
*HR doesn't maintain confidentiality and if you contact HR regarding an issue with an employee, they will go behind your back and tell them..which results in a hostile work environment.
*Many managers are not qualified to be a manager, but attained the position due to the "slim pickens" of candidates.
*Favoritism; if you are not kissing your managers behind you will not get ahead in this company. Many employees/managers seek mistakes in others in order to progress with the company and make themselves look good instead of coaching and motivating others to become a better frontline associate.
*Contract work; here today, gone tomorrow. You never know.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should be more involved with the managers at each location. Hire a higher quality of associates/managers. Stop showing favoritism towards certain people. If you continue to treat employees wrong you will lose this contract, as you lost previous contracts in the past.

I have been working at Flextronics full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits and 401K are marginally good. Large company, so if I were to move, I could possibly just do a relocation.

    Cons

Treated like garbage, no training provided, no direction, they say they take harassment seriously but after two formal complaints, nothing has changed.

    Advice to Management

Organize. Motivate the team. Don't pass off a disarray of assignments and demand unrealistic deadlines.
