I worked at Flextronics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flex is one of if not the largest contract manufacturing company in the world. The company takes great pride in its employees. The benefit package is very good, and the salary is competitive. Because the company is so large and varied it is possible to move to different positions without having to leave the company.

Management is proactive and I believe they are incentivized to promote their staff members to higher positions.

    Cons

The primary con, is that the company is so large that sometimes you can get lost and forgotten about. It is hard to make a name for yourself or to get your accomplishments recognized by the right people.

    Advice to Management

Don't get so caught up in your own career advancement that you forget the members of your team. The environment is very challenging and sometimes managers get caught up in "winning" the game and lose sight of the people that are working for them.

I have been working at Flextronics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great opportunity to advance and get attention of other companies. You learn more at this job than any other I have ever had.

    Cons

They grind you to the bone and expect more from you than is possible. Very cut throat industry and very political internally makes it difficult to get things accomplished.

    Advice to Management

I would say to set realistic expectations and allow your employees to learn about aspects outside their job that enable them to be better at their job.

I worked at Flextronics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This would be a good learning ground for fresh graduates or those with less than 5 years experience.

    Cons

Not a place for a career. Poor senior executives from Directors to Sr VPs. Most of the senior folks have poor knowledge or experience running their functions/operations in Asia. They think what works in one part of the world will work in Asia as well. All they do is talk without knowing the root cause. They do best in escalating a problem instead of solving it.

    Advice to Management

Change the whole management team. Too many Directors, Snr Directors and VPs. Everybody wants to run the show when a new site is up or acquired. As the saying goes "too many cooks spoil the soup".
