I worked at Flint Hills Resources full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, Good work schedule options. People are generally good to work with. Several long tenured employees and several very new.

    Cons

Vacation time allowed takes 5 years to get 3 weeks. Management moves around a lot. New one comes in, makes changes, creates new expectations. No pay scale, your are always being asked to work on your future plans but there is no incentive in regards to salary increases, just more work load and stress. Company offers bonuses but makes it very easy for them to decrease amounts paid destroying morale.

    Advice to Management

Incorporate some sensitivity training for the employees that have been there for longer periods to assist in improving and accepting change and the challenge process.

    Pros

Koch is a good company to work for and the environment allows you to advance as far as you are determined to. You are asked to create value and then allowed to do this with what you do best.

    Cons

Middle management talks the talk but some don't walk the walk. They are generally eventually found out, but there are always those who will throw others under the bus.

I worked at Flint Hills Resources full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits and good pay

    Cons

Like High School all over again. If you don't get in with the right group of people than your an outcast and you have no future with the company no matter how hard you work. In addition the company preaches one thing but then doesn't actually want you to follow through and do it because when you do you end up getting in trouble for it. It's all about who you know in this company rather than your performances. Work/homelife balance is way off as well as 60 hour work weeks are the norm.
