Pros
Strong safety, environmental, and development culture. Good people and quality process drive the refinery.
Cons
Bonus structure meant you rarely had any control on the outcome as the whole plant was grouped as one.

Pros
-Koch is a good company as whole to work for with many opportunities. -You can truly have a career at Koch not just a job. -Many good people to work with at the company who have been in their role for years with much experience and knowledge that they are willing to share. -The organizations in Flint Hills are rather flat leading to great opportunity within the company. -Site Directors in the procurement... organization are good to work for giving their employees much direction and freedom at the same time
Show MoreCons
-No transparency in procurement organization. Poor communication from leadership. -Salaries are below the market with no bonuses other than performance pay of the site -The procurement organization breeds incompetence while rewarding complacency -Poor communication between the sites and the headquarters.
Advice to Management
The procurement organization has tremendous turnover. Salaries need to be raised to the market. If employees are creating substantial value they should be incentivize and rewarded. There is never any effort to keep employees and empower them to succeed in this organization. The procurement organization in FHR is lacking knowledge at the top and is a lackluster organization with no direction. However, Koch as a... whole is a good company.

Pros
Good people to work with. The company has great values and follows them without question. Not a lot of tiered management to cause roadblocks. Everyone is given decision rights based on their job. Roles, responsibilities and expectations are road mapped out for all positions and updated at least once a year. Employee feedback is given frequently.
Cons
Management and salaried employees are treated much better than hourly employees. For the corporate office in Wichita, hourly employees do not receive bonuses or incentives like the salaried employees are. Salaries are supposed to be based on your level of contribution. That is not the case. I am a long time employee and new hires are hired in making almost as much as me. Longevity, dedication, values and tacit... knowledge should be rewarded.
Show MoreAdvice to Management
Don't spend so much time making sure the salaried and management employees are highly compensated. Your hourly employees work just as hard and the company wouldn't be as successful without the hourly employees.

Pros
Great job opportunities. A company that really cares about its employees. Good people with positive attitudes. Great pay and benefits. A company you can make a career with. Solid belief about moving forward and embracing new technologies. Highly interested and supportive of training opportunities.
Cons
IT Dept is highly structured; therefore, there are lots process and procedures 'hoops' to jump through. Projects and demand are highly backlogged. Located in Wichita, KS.
Advice to Management
Management is doing a great job of encouraging employees to find the perfect fit/position in the company.
