I have been working at Florida Blue full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Benefits are good.
I have the BEST supervisor ever, Miss Pat!!
Flexible work schedules for people with children or a far commute.

    Cons

Auditors are overly critical and bonuses are based not just on your competency, but your whole team.
Can be frustrating dealing with irate customers, and time limits for calls.
For those who do not take to change well, it can be difficult.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to implement changes to the Quarterly Incentive Program. It was already difficult enough to meet your bonus before the new audit initiative. Doubling the number of Quality audits, changing the weight of the defects from previous, and the auditors are siting defects in things that are not standard operating procedure from the Desktop Procedures that we are REQUIRED to use. You are just ensuring that you do not have to pay out a bonus. That is bad form in my opinion.

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Florida Blue full-time

    Pros

None. I had only a few good people in leadership with more than 30 years working there.

    Cons

Training does not properly train new hires for customer service. Leadership in most cases are out of touch with the job. Leadership does not accept advice of employees who handle the work and make very poor decisions. You are expected to do more with less every year. Too much favoritism. Good employees become bad employees once they continue to see others who don't deserve promotions receive positions they are not qualified for and who have no experience. Turn around is high due to inadequate training and unfair leadership. Health insurance benefits are not the best yet this is a Healthcare company.....my husband had better health insurance working outside of FloridaBlue than I did working for them. I gave more 30 years to this company with a lot promised to me when I started to have it all taken away before I left.

    Advice to Management

Listen to advice of employees. Better benefits would be great for retirees as well as employees. Put better leaders in place. Too much good old boy system as friends hire their friends or people they know will do as they want and not what is right.

I have been working at Florida Blue full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A very nice campus, and comfortable work environment. The employee benefits include little-known discounts around town that are very nice. It's easy to see and understand the impact of your work on the company.

This company instills a sense of confidence in it's employees that the company is reliable and trustworthy.

    Cons

The equipment most employees work with is antiquated and poor. Our team has budget for the nicest equipment available, but there are many networking problems with new technology.

This company, in many regards, has fallen to several common pitfalls of corporations this size. The tedious business processes involving new employee onboarding makes it a painful chore to manage a team. Acquiring resources is far too challenging here.

Employees are often unaware of the company's landscape as a whole, and only get to know the part they work in.

    Advice to Management

Continue to put pressure on the value of the everyday work environment, and the processes involving staffing. Most of my minor discontentment with the organization stems from our staffing processes.

I have been working at Florida Blue full-time

    Pros

Good working in a changing industry. Good working with people. Salary is competitive

    Cons

Technology needs updating. Not much room for promotion locally. No schedule predictability.

    Advice to Management

Don't choose a candidate for a job before ever posting the position.
