I have been working at Florida Blue full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have worked here for more than a decade and I have really enjoyed my time here. Pros: Beautiful campus, lots of opportunities for professional development, pretty good work/life balance, thought leader in the health insurance industry, advocate for innovation, involved in and supportive of the community, huge advocate for diversity

    Cons

For a company whose mission is to achieve better health, it would be nice to see more support for working parents so they can better take care of their children and themselves. Right now we get 6 weeks at 60% of our salary and then another 6 weeks unpaid. At the very least it would be nice to be able to take additional unpaid time off beyond the 3 months and still be able to keep our job or retain a spot for a similar one.

I have been working at Florida Blue full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company promotes a good work life balance. They have good benefits. The campus is absolutely beautiful. They do have a lot of opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Like any corporation it's all about your mental state and how you react to things. The system issues are out of control. I left my last employer, because of system issues. I took this job and the same thing. Maybe it's my energy on the wrong frequency or something. The different departments don't communicate with each other, so some time that can bring down the customer experience. The Marketplace is horrible, this is the reason most insurers back out of ObamaCare.

    Advice to Management

Work out something with the federal government to make ACA better for your members. They are absolutely traumatized by the incompetence of the Marketplace policies.

    Pros

BCBS of Florida is the worst company ever. This is always good to know so you avoid working for another dismal workplace. BCBS of Florida often send emails to employees to answer in an desperate attempt to get on the 'Best company in the US to work for' list. Most employees ignore it to prevent the company from spreading falsehood.

    Cons

BCBS of Florida is the worst company ever. Internally my team worked on projects that identified customers using too much resources meaning $$ due to their poor health. The mission was Identify and kick them out. Also the pay-scale shown for BCBS of Florida is way off. BCBS hires mostly untrained workers from India at 18.00 per hour which is illegal. The US citizen staff are miserable and cant complain else...You don't understand diversity!

    Advice to Management

Dont be a Disney! Hire Americans! Pull future workers from all the great public and private universities in the US. Your current practice is well noticed.
