    Pros

Forward thinking organization. Truly embody mission. Significant opportunities exist for continuous learning. Good compensation offered and benefits. Investment in community health and partnerships is exemplary.

    Cons

Limited room for advancement beyond Senior Management role in satellite offices. Opportunity to improve the consistency of job posting process to make roles available across the state. Need to expand work from home opportunities

    Advice to Management

Post positions statewide to get best qualified candidates in roles that do not require face to face engagement with member, clients or providers. Also need to move forward in allowing more employees to work from home.

I worked at Florida Blue full-time

    Pros

The campus offers a lot of benefits to the employees. Having two large cafeterias to choose from was great. Also there was an on-site clinic for quick doctor's visits and lab work.

    Cons

It's your average large insurance company. I would assume that most employees feel insignificant in the grand scheme of things. One or two employees in each group get treated like superstars, while everyone else gets an average 2 - 3% yearly raise. Not many promotions going around.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the 1 - 5% yearly goal based review system. Especially when you can only give out so many 5's, it just seems like the same favorites get the max 5% every year - mainly because they've been at the company for many years. Also why is it part of the company culture to limit employees in new positions to 3% regardless of how they performed? This is a very old school, policitical environment to work in. Young IT professionals should stay away.

    Pros

Great benefits, great pay, great ceo, family company, respect their employees, very diverse

    Cons

Training is exhausting and not focus on your job description. A LOT of people train better shadowing someone oppose to a classroom where there are constant lessons being teacher all day long.

    Advice to Management

Change the requirements for training . Update the test material

    Pros

There are truly good people working here. Every department I worked in felt like a family. There are also plenty of opportunities to grow, but you have to show the initiative. Despite the size of the company, there are plenty of chances to network and work with other departments and divisions. If you are far enough removed from the executive offices, you can have a great, fulfilling career.

    Cons

In the past few years, the new CEO basically cleaned house of all Sr Management, replacing them with his friends. Performance reviews are a formality, in that many departments decide what your numbers will be long before the review period ends.
Sr Leadership talks about flattening the 'top-down' culture typical of a 60+ year old company. However, there are plenty of people who have worked their way up the ladders, and have ONLY worked here. So they only know one management style.

    Advice to Management

    Trust the people under you.

I have been working at Florida Blue full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very down to earth people working here...a lot of old timers...you only see youth in sales...everything else is operated by 50 year old mothers with pictures of their dogs in their cubicles.

Company has great involvement in community work and it makes sure employees are healthy. It's hard to get fired here...lots of second chances and they do try to help improve performance and helping

    Cons

Very little room to grow...once you before manager, becoming a director is basically waiting for that guy to retire because he aint moving up either...

Offices are boring...no one talks, it feels dead.

There is also a two-face attitude with upper management..a lot of smiling and positive talks but then behind your back they discuss how bad your performance is.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to make the office fun, colorful and employees engaged. Boring place to work...just people clocking in at 9am and clockin out at 5pm going home to pet their cats.

    Pros

Lots of very smart people who are great to work with. In my experience this is where the real work gets done because the focus is on doing the right thing for the customers

    Cons

Executive leadership team from VP on up
Way to much favoritism and don't believe it when these leaders say they want the truth. They're not interested

    Advice to Management

For VPs to executive leaders - don't be so arrogant. Make sure you know who does the real work

I really liked what I did here and I really loved my team. I did get extended 1 month and my manager fought for me to no avail.

    Cons

Very high turnover and just when you really learn the systems and obtain the knowledge, upper management says let go.
