I have been working at Florida International University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They are really supportive of DACA and foreign students. They help transfer students and have really good credit transfer programs. There Veteran (which I am) program is fantastic, with early registration (a must, see cons...) and a helpful student veteran support group.

    Cons

The engineering department does not have enough staff to offer enough classes. Although it did not happen to me, I know a few people who's graduation was pushed back because they were not able to get into the classes they needed to take in sequence. There is also a problem with rampant cheating. Some students who truly do not belong as engineers will graduate with decent GPAs.

    Advice to Management

Offer more classes, knuckle down on cheating,

I have been working at Florida International University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Large campus centrally located in Miami-Dade.

    Cons

HR does not protect employees from abusive managers. EEOC doesn't follow through with complaints regarding racial discrimination. Does pay salaries that match the cost of living in Miami-Dade.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Florida International University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

FIUs diverse culture and drive to become 'World's Ahead' makes them an education powerhouse.

    Cons

Expanding too fast and not allowing enough time manage the growth; not very concerned with their employees work life balance and putting their employees first

    Advice to Management

Part of being "World's Ahead" should be focusing on your employees work-life balance; transparency as a public/state institution; utilizing technology to empower employees...you're not quite "World's Ahead"
