I worked at Florida Southern College part-time

    Pros

I held three different student positions at FSC and was always treated very well both professionally and personally. I learned so much and made so many valuable connections working with the faculty and staff. They take the time to get to know you by exploring and supporting your individual strengths and weaknesses.

    Cons

Most on campus jobs do not pay very well.

    Advice to Management

All of my managers were very receptive to ideas/suggestions and treated me as a colleague or friend.

I have been working at Florida Southern College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work atmosphere. Most of the employees are very kind and helpful. We laugh a lot and the benefits are great! Two weeks vacation, two weeks sick, and one personal day! Plus medical coverage and retirement planning! I enjoy my job!

    Cons

The pay is not the greatest, but nothing to shy away from. Some of the people "up the hill" can be difficult at best. HR seems to sometimes react on a "case by case" basis making it hard to treat everyone the same across the board. All in all, not a bad place to work by any means!

    Advice to Management

Value your employees and treat everyone the same. Make sure your team is treating other departments with respect. We all have a job to do and we are one TEAM overall. Try to remember that!

I have been working at Florida Southern College part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the professors are friendly.

    Cons

-The pay is horrible and I have never received a raise.
-The admissions personnel do not really care about the students.
-Adjuncts receive nothing, unlike other colleges that offer at least some fringe benefits.

    Advice to Management

Give the adjuncts something....anything! Some of us are hard-working, innovative and loyal, but you do not reward us because you are, frankly, elitists who think we are not important.

I worked at Florida Southern College part-time

    Pros

After a year of employment, all general staff employees are granted a week of vacation and are eligible to participate in the Company 401K plan.

    Cons

The college president, faculty and students do not respect the general staff. The pay is too low for the work demanded of the general staff. Raises in pay are usually never granted.

    Pros

    Small school
    Beautiful campus
    Interesting campus life

    Cons

Lots of double standards and outdated way of thinking

Most beautiful campus (on the outside) no work is done to any of the academic buildings or classrooms.

Students are promised everything and given nothing.
