I have been working at Fluidigm full-time

    Pros

Great IP, good people in rank and file

    Cons

Senior management is almost exclusively old Life/Thermo people and they are trying to recapture the same culture, imposing a large corporate structure on effectively a small company. HR is a laugh, rarely there except one guy, they spend bundles of our precious cash on outside consultants to implement large corporate programs that just serve to stifle any joy left. If you don’t fit exactly fit some Radford category,...

    Advice to Management

Life was bought by Thermo. Unless the rumors that we are looking to be bought as well are true, stop trying to recreate the Life corporate environment. Give up your offices so hard working people can actually have meetings.

I have been working at Fluidigm full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I saw older reviews and almost passed on working for Fluidigm because of them. I am glad I decided to see for myself what the company was like. New leadership is committed to the future success of the company. Workplace morale is a high priority. There are many dedicated and extremely talented employees at all levels of the company.

    Cons

Day to day work can be tedious, some processes take a lot more effort than they need to.

    Advice to Management

Keep asking for and seriously consider feedback you get from your employees and your customers.

    Pros

A new management team has been hired that is rapidly changing the culture at Fluidigm for the better. Managers are employee friendly and have excellent people skills. Employees are engaged and are genuinely excited about the future prospects for the organization. I'm involved in commercializing interesting new products that are at the forefront of genomics analysis. As a new employee I see a bright career for me...

I have been working at Fluidigm full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Exciting Technology. Growing to the Next Level. Excellent Leadership Team with a laser focused vision for the company's future. Public company but It is like working for a well funded start-up. Stock has done well the past 8 months. A fast paced company with a lot of cool projects going on. HR is putting in a lot of programs in place that benefit the employees.

    Cons

No cafeteria in-house but Gourmet food trucks come weekly. With growth comes the standard pain of where do you put all the new hires.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus - the investment community is responding positively to it.

I worked at Fluidigm full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I learned a heck of a lot working at Fluidigm. By no means do I regret my time there. The R&D team was and still is filled with very talented scientists. I had the privilege of working on a diverse set of projects spanning the entire product line while working there. The seeds for a company turnaround are being planted and I just hope they are not too late in arriving because the company has an AMAZING technology portfolio.

    Cons

The work environment has stagnated in the office and there has been very high turnover / layoffs to stem financial difficulties because the company was working on too many (very cutting-edge) projects simultaneously and burned cash way to fast. Because of that the cross-functional input for company direction has nearly been eliminated for only the Marketing department’s view of where the company should head. For me it...

    Advice to Management

The steps to be more transparent to the rank and file are appreciated. It’s very hard to rebuild that trust after driving the company so close to the cliff. Remember to reward your employees and above all else have good people managers in place to lead your teams.

    Pros

Receive timely salary, that's the only positive situation you will have in this company. Decent employees with Decent US benefits Working remotely is a nice perk nice company swag

    Cons

Sales team promises the client anything impossible, as they know, its easy to create fictitious numbers. 1. All projects, process are miss managed. very poor management. 2. Blood sucking company, long work hours, minimum pay with no commission plans. 3. You need to pay from your pocket for official expenses with no corporate credit card available 4. Most of internal and external portal, tools are buggy, not working....

    I worked at Fluidigm full-time

    Pros

career happiness is so key in life. spot on-- culture is a huge driver of a company's ability to attract and retain talent. this company did everything polar opposite. people are a lot less willing to stay in a job or with a company that doesn't represent their aspirations and behaviors more so than in the past. one positive thing is the company will not last more than a year.

    Cons

Choose your words wisely. stop lying to your employees, hiding before doors with a proxy whispering and gossiping with HR like high schoolers on who to replace next. 90% of your executives are ritual white men. What kind of Leader are you? insecure deceitful manipulative insensitive There is a difference between being firm and being rude. You are just plain rude. Companies often forget that the crux of...
