I have been working at Fluor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fluor have a 9 day fortnight (every other Friday off) which promotes excellent work/life balance. Pay is every 4 weeks (rather than once a month). Worldwide opportunities within the company.

    Cons

A large company that deals with projects; so luck and timing play a large part of what opportunities and work you'll be involved with. Can lead to feeling a little stagnant at times. The design opportunities are a little limited due to most things being sub-contracted out or given to a vendor.

    Advice to Management

Look to break the mould a bit; this is a company that is constantly pushing innovation, but it's work execution is based largely on a 1950s style engineering company. Promote a few of the younger generation up into senior Innovation positions, and you'll be generating far more ideas/approaches.

The growth is very limited in terms of salary and promotions and seems to be biased in giving opportunities to people from Asian countries mainly.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Flexible start times. Good friendly culture. Every other Friday off made by 9 days of 9 hours. Opportunity to travel.

    Cons

Need more social integration on projects. Maybe too many people required for decision making.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Fluor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

9 day fortnight. There really is no other pro. Salary is average.

    Cons

Expected to give your life to the company. Expected to be at your desk before 7:00 am, and not leave until after 7:00 pm. Managers are not trained. And nepotism is rife.

    Advice to Management

Do your job and manage. Give employees some responsibility. Micro managing everything is not productive.

I worked at Fluor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary is good.I think that's it. Benefits are poor. 9 day fortnight is supposed to make your work/life balance perfect... But Managers expect you to work off Fridays.

    Cons

Procedures driven. Managers are largely absent, but expectation that you will give your life to the company. Expected to arrive before 7am, and not leave until gone 7pm. Only expected to put 40 hours on timecard. All staff deemed Lazy and incompetent unless you are a manager.

    Advice to Management

    Manage. Talk to staff... Listen.

I worked at Fluor as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

What can I say, I really cannot think of anything good to say about this company at all. It was conveniently located close to my home so I was able to walk to work

    Cons

Absence of communication from senior management. Company has appointed US expats to senior management positions with no concept of UK employment legislation.

    Advice to Management

Be open and honest with employees.

    - Very process driven organisation - but thats not a bad thing in this case

     - A high focus on technical competence on employees and delivering that to clients

    Cons

    - Limit to how far/quickly you can grow if you are not an engineer
     - You may be stuck with a duff project and not be able to move on until the project is over, or you leave the company
