    Pros

They offer a competitive salary and pretty good benefits by today's standards. You get travel days to go home when working remotely.

    Cons

No 401k match the first year is a downer. Very little communication and direction from upper management. Doesn't seem like a good environment to get your feet wet in this industry.

    Advice to Management

    More channels of communication

I have been working at Fluor full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great facilities, networking groups, mentoring circles, numerous events, etc when economy is good. "OneFluor" is a great initiative if implemented properly.

    Cons

Easy to become "just a number" here.

"OneFluor" is all talk and no action. Engineering disciplines don't communicate on projects. Sales department can't win lump-sum projects because the "good old boy" system of management costs the company too much money.

The company lays off productive employees to keep senior department leads happy by keeping around their relatives and yes-men. Department rankings work the same way.

    Advice to Management

Make sure supervisors have some understanding of labor laws before promoting them. Promote people based on productivity instead of who their friends are. Make tougher budgeting decisions by forcing retirement and promoting from within.

    Pros

Great company with strong ethics and innovative strategy/project execution strategies. If you communicate your career goals, they will do their best to accommodate.

    Cons

Do not always promote based on meritocracy. Your raises and promotions are based on years with the company.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to identify, mentor and grow younger employees more effectively.
