I have been working at Fluor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Challenging work in Afghanistan. Enjoyed working along side people from all over the world. The environment pushed your limits and made you appreciate simple things in life. Strong commitment to employees, good safety performance at all times, good core values.

    Cons

Field leadership tends to be ambivalent. Communication at the project level is sometimes vague and misleading. Easy to become "just a number" here. Lay offs comes unexpectedly and sometimes they over hire.

    Advice to Management

Great Materials Manager, Keep up the good work. Knowledge is power only when it's shared. Supervisors should find a way to identify, mentor employees more effectively.

I have been working at Fluor full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Management shares information on personnel esp on the staff side. Supports job movement. Company has high ethical standards. Key to success is to have a broad network to be able to move from project to project. Benefits are better than most competing company's.

    Cons

HR processes and systems do not support employee recruitment or staffing of internal transfers. Project work can get very embroiled in office politics and mangers will stop project transfers regardless of employee desires. Employee development can suffer while on projects.

    Advice to Management

Provide stronger HR systems to allow employees to stay with the company (transfer to other projects) rather than leave for external positions.
