I worked at Fluor full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I was kept very busy. I was at Fluor 24 years and was engaged in many diverse assignments

    Cons

Fluor is a very sophisticated company and am I sad to say that I was cheated and lied to on a number of occasions. Prospective employees should be very careful but any employmnet is better than no employmnet. The performance rating system is totally biased. The system appears to be fair but is not objective and based on the opinion of high level managers.

    Advice to Management

No advise offerred because it would not be of any value to anyone in authority there.

    Pros

I have no Pros to share

    Cons

They promoted a Team concept but you had to be a Fluor employee that was a transfer from another Fluor project. Felt like a necessary evil.

    Advice to Management

    Practice what you preach

I have been working at Fluor full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fluor, a construction and engineering firm, is an ethical company with an intelligent employee base, i.e. engineers, attorneys, etc. Fluor is well respected in the construction industry, and is a good company for learning the dos and don'ts in this industry, and stresses a safety culture, and actual practices, that stand out in the industry.

    Cons

Can be VERY difficult to promote in main office locations. MUST be willing to work at project locations to move forward in the majority of career paths at Fluor. This means willing to relocate frequently.
For those seeking to work for a company who issues bonuses to the general workforce, this is NOT the place for you. Only those at fairly high levels in management receive bonuses.
Overall benefits are not that great compared to other large corporations. The "good" benefits, again, are reserved for the uppermost tiers of management. This frustrates the vast majority of employees.
Fluor has been down-sizing its employee base primarily due to downturn in the oil industry, so most departments are working in under staffed environments, which can prove to be very stressful.

    Advice to Management

Fluor should consider ALL employees as important contributors to its success, and not just to a small handful of employees in upper management tiers, and consider issuing bonuses to a broader population of its employees. There is much frustration over this policy. Overall benefits need to be reassessed for the general employee base, and need to be more competitive with other large corporations.

    Pros

Excellent Pay and fair accumulation of time off with pay (TOWP). Company Match 401k. (100% match to 5%).

    Cons

Despite working a normal work week of 50 to 60 hours every week. No more than 40 hours of TOWP can be used for a payroll week. Health Insurance offered by Fluor is hands down the WORST COVERAGE I have ever had with ANY employer EVER.. (Most expensive premiums / The least coverage & the Highest deductibles.)

    Advice to Management

Make a positive change in the area of provided health benefits. There is no reason that a company as large as Fluor should NEVER settle for the ridiculous health plans offered by the insurance providers. THERE SIMPLY MUST BE A BETTER PLAN AVAILABLE TO YOUR EMPLOYEES.

    I worked at Fluor full-time

    Pros

    Large corporation with intresting opportunities

    Cons

Bad-blood atmosphere, Management says one thing and does another, no procedures, psychological "bullying" of personnel, crappy hours and sub-standard salary for such a large corporation.

I have been working at Fluor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company as a whole is challenging. Working here forces you to have to think quickly and resolve issues immediately. You are never bored. And there is always something to do.

    Cons

As with most large scale companies the best pay and bonus structure is reserved for those who are executives or are selected as favorites. There is no reward and recognition program for those who are non management. And minorities in Corporate tend get paid less but do more work and have more experience and education and than non minorities.

    Advice to Management

Be fair to those who are actually top performers
