I have been working at Fluor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Not micro managed ,regional decision making on day to day operations is the norm.

    Cons

Benifits terrible ,especially days off no holidays no berivment no jury duty , seriously it's 2017 a billion dollar company you still have to use personal-time for holidays and jury duty Fluor should be ashamed.

    Advice to Management

You are losing talent because of no holidays and pay could be a little more in line with industry standards.

I have been working at Fluor full-time

    Pros

    Good experience, very experienced people.

    Cons

Values long term employee more than talent. New hire with 10 years of outside experience will not be equivalent to 10 years of experienced person in Fluor. This also leads to some not so talented people rise more because of internal connections.

    Advice to Management

Experienced people from other companies are also talented.

I worked at Fluor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I left the company for specific reasons, but I worked with great people, learned about the industry, and got a field assignment (per diem pay was nice).

    Cons

The company rewards years of service rather than merit. Frustrating for a go-getter (so I left), great for someone who wants to stay with a company for their entire career. Due to the cyclical nature of the industry, there can be layoffs and job uncertainty.

    Advice to Management

Challenge and reward hard-working employees to retain top talent.

I worked at Fluor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Global leader in EPC space and overall industry leader in a lot of areas, especially pertaining to policies and procedures.

    Cons

Can easily get lost in the shuffle and become a "number." Not enough is done to develop future leaders out of the non-technical areas of the business.

    Advice to Management

A thorough review needs to be done at all levels of leadership. A lot of dead weight and old school mentality in a lot of areas both inside of HR and outside.

Large company that can afford to keep you on during slow times.

    Cons

Little training. Expected to figure issues out on your own with little guidance.

I have been working at Fluor (More than a year)

    Pros

Good salary, interesting and challenging work, talented workforce, good access to technical resources, 9-80 schedule

    Cons

You are a glorified contract worker despite being a salaried worker. Typically you will be hired for a specific new project award. Once executed you are not assured new work will be available afterwards. Office staff goes through hire and fire cycles too often (+/- 18 mos) to ever be comfortable. Engineering and associated staff are not valued by higher management as retaining talent is not a priority and goal is to increase share of work to offshore at cheaper rate.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job of maintaining consistent backlog of work even if it means diversifying scope and contract type.
