Fluor - a great environment to get your work done, and to continue learning

      Pros

Large company with a strong financial background. Information sharing, team collaboration, and continued education is strongly encouraged. Everyone working on a project around you is very willing to help you learn, and most people are able to do so very intelligently. Compensation is above average. The atmosphere in the work place is somewhat relaxed, mostly focusing on making sure you fulfill your job requirements rather than having someone breathing down your neck all the time. Time off with pay system is flexible and my experience with management is that they will work with you however they can to allow you the schedule you would prefer.

      Cons

Due to the cyclical nature of the businesses Fluor is involved in, job security is always in question. However, if you perform satisfactorily or above, you should not be too concerned.

      Dynamic Work Enviroment

      Pros

One of the main reasons I love Fluor is for the flexible work hours. Other reasons include the numerous opportunities to find what you love to do-- Several types of projects to work on.

      Cons

Job security is not great here to be honest, let alone anywhere else. Very unstable market for Fluor to find jobs for their employees, when they are no projects to work on- no job for you!

      Great Culture

      Pros

Great culture, great people, with a helpful, friendly and supportive environment. Fair fast-paced with a lot of room to prove yourself and excel at what you're doing. Greenville is a great place to live.

      Cons

Only working as an intern, I got the impression that many of the project manager level, mid-management employees moved around a lot. Engineers who stayed in Greenville may not have the best job-security.

      Pros

Flex-Time, every other Friday off, great community relations program

      Cons

Job Security is based on the current demand for primarily Oil & Gas, if demand goes down you might not have a project to work on....to me, that is kind of scary

      Pros

If you have good leader, it will be a good place to work with, a lot skills to learn, most colleague are very nice. The company education system are pretty good.

      Cons

Job security is very low, when economic is not good ,you will be expected to lay off every 2-5 years, the relationship is too heavy in the company , even the CEO try his best to change this , but since it exist so many years , change is not that easy . The performance system was not that effective.

Well run but rigid structure and frequent layoffs

Feb 17, 2015 - Process Engineer in Sugar Land, TX

      Business Outlook

      Pros

The structure is great - very well run. The facilities are great. Safety is held in high esteem and is a part of the culture. Good benefits and has 9-80 schedule.

      Cons

The biggest thing is job security - you feel like every month some major project could be canceled and would cause lots of layoffs. I was only an intern but many full-time employees made it known that job security was a daily concern for them. Not much focus on cross communication between departments.

      Cons

When work is scarce job security is not guaranteed.
