      Big Engineering Company

      Pros

High pay compare to non oil & gas industry. High retention rate compare to other companies. Great benefits and career opportunities.

      Cons

Industry has ups and downs based on oil price cycle. Still lack diversity in upper management especially in global level. It has pros and cons of big corporates.

      Pros

Fluor is pretty much the same as all the oil & gas companies. Gone are the days when people had integrity? And were proud of the job they did.

      Cons

n't suggest anything that might help the company,. Everyone knows things are being compromised, legally, as much as every other compromise. Upper management has no clue which people are the high performers.

      Pros

      Overall great people and Friendships.

      Cons

Bad upper management Company got way to big, carries a lot of expensive overhead. Promotes people who know nothing and move them around instead of letting them go.

      It's not me; it's you.

      Pros

There are many opportunities to learn outside your day-to-day responsibilities. Management is generally understanding and willing to work with people as people rather than numbers.

      Cons

It's unstable. We haven't sold a lot of jobs in the last several years, so the parking lot keeps on getting emptier. Employees are frustrated. Upper management is fixated on revolution (which naturally goes nowhere) when we need evolution. The lip-service to new approaches is there, but the execution is lacking. There is no pipeline, or if there is it's too easy to fall off. There is zero budget for training.

      Pros

      - Good Slaries overall. - Raises are based on performance and not so much pleasing shareholders. - A global presence allowing favorable work assignments in general.

      Cons

      - No substantial effort to keep emplyees during downturns - A jump from middle to upper management is usually a long painfull process - Excessive submission to Client's requests in terms of deliverables, especially timing. - Career development plans and programs that look good on paper but hard to execute

      Management Needs an Overhaul

      Oct 20, 2017 - Anonymous Employee

      Pros

They offer a flexible schedule and have nice little office perks -- comped meals, bottled water in the kitchen, etc.

      Cons

The corporate culture feels a lot like a high school; there is too much toxic, abusive behavior coming from middle management, to which upper management simply turns a blind eye. Mid-level managers are verbally abusive to employees and often text and email them outside of work hours to offer criticism. They micromanage, set people up to fail, and laugh about how they got people fired. Their behavior is far from professional and is damaging to the culture of what could be a great company.

Fluor cares and is a good place to work with many opportunities.

      Pros

The pay at Fluor is good and if you show competence in your craft they will recognize it and try to advance you to where you belong, unless your attitude indicates that you're still in need of adjustment. There is opportunity to train and advance in a craft or even change crafts. Working on a power plant seems to get you in front of the power plant owners for an interview if you're interested. They beleive in and promote safety, this is a good place to learn safety.

      Cons

There does, however, seem to be some favoritism in upper management, or at least people believe that there is. Sometimes people are terminated for reasons that seem selfish on the part of management and I've know a Foreman and General Foreman who felt that it was necessary to 'drag up' because of unethical practices in management. Also, the after hours training, though legitimate, is a challenge to fit into your schedule. I've heard of a few cases where the foreman promises to advance you for months, but can't seem to make it happen; it's better just to ignore promises and stay focused on succeeding in your position.
