Fluor have a 9 day fortnight (every other Friday off) which promotes excellent work/life balance. Pay is every 4 weeks (rather than once a month). Worldwide opportunities within the company.
Cons
A large company that deals with projects; so luck and timing play a large part of what opportunities and work you'll be involved with. Can lead to feeling a little stagnant at times. The design opportunities are a little limited due to most things being sub-contracted out or given to a vendor.

Working in multi task and busy schedule help you to be a person who can work under pressure to meet deadline.
Cons
Layoff only with 2 weeks notice. Lots of overtime and difficult to manage work life balance when project is on peak.

Pros
Compensation overall was average. Opportunities existed abroad, if one knew the correct people to contact.
Cons
I feel promotions and filling of positions within were not fair. Many educated, knowledgeable people were overlooked and feel between the cracks. I also felt there was no benefit to gaining a formal education at moments when up against others that were in the Good Ol' Boy network; very frustrating. Posted jobs were not matched with employees by HR, as should be. Senior management picked whom they wanted. I feel half the jobs posted on-line were a waste to apply for, knowing the positions were likely already filled by someone's buddy or relative. Work/life balance was difficult with a family for those that weren't in the home offices.
