I worked at Follett part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great support from immediate supervisors, systems were streamlined and easy to understand. Flexible hours and benefits were offered early on

    Cons

Computer systems could use an update and prices were very high especially for students trying to purchase textbooks. Uncomfortably high at times

I have been working at Follett full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility, great hours, extremely understanding, the company recognizes their own employees and has great incentives for goals.

    Cons

Upset instructors/customers due to books being marked up.

    Advice to Management

Management is amazing, we currently do not have a store manager but our regional manager has stepped in and helped us tremendously. Also, every other store manager I've dealt with at other stores are fantastic.

I have been working at Follett part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Interaction with students, faculty, and staff.

    Cons

Poor store management on the part of the main Store Manager.

    Advice to Management

Tell your employees what they are doing right sometimes instead of always being them down, and belittling them.

    "Working in a small store"

    I worked at Follett full-time

    Pros

Working directly with faculty can be rewarding.

    Cons

Management is not on site and smaller stores are expected to do the work of 6 people with only 2-3 on staff.

    Advice to Management

Trust store managers to make decisions that corporate shouldn't be making, since they clearly don't know that the smaller stores actually need. It's not all about dollars. You shouldn't have to close the store to go to the bathroom because payroll gives you enough hours for 1.5 people.

I have been working at Follett part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Works well with hours and days off as needed.

    Cons

Management is more concerned with employees looking busy. Stores are not busy during the middle of the semester. Supervisors are not good at training. Supervisors do not share training that would be helpful for a lead to use to do the job.

    Advice to Management

Team leads need to be full time and paid based on duties. There needs to be a more structured set of guidelines for positions and better training.

I worked at Follett full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Tuition Reimbursement
They recently removed the rest of the Pros in budget cuts

    Cons

    Long Hours
    No raises for years!
Regional Management is kind of a joke
There is no where to go as the incentives are not there to care

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your stores!

I have been working at Follett part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working at a bookstore has benefits such as discounts and getting well versed in campus information. It's convenient to work on campus.

    Cons

The pay could be way better. I'm sure the company names a lot of money. For the work that we do we should be making more.
