Pros
Unique role with lots of travel opportunities. Great for someone with flexibility in their personal life to up and go at any time. They provide plenty of training and team has strong communication.
Cons
Travel can wear on you over time and the workload is heavy. Team is extremely hard working and has high expectations.

Pros
As a field evaluator, you get to stay at amazing properties, get free spa treatments and eat at amazing restaurants. You're typically too busy to enjoy these properties, but it's still nice nonetheless.
Cons
Copy editor rates have gone down every year over the last few years due to budget cuts. Management claims that the edits should take less time due to the new editing format (and therefore the pay ratio is comparable), but this isn't always true. Also, they don't give you enough work for you to make a living wage. I was making twice as much money on unemployment during the pandemic just to be called back to work and given very little editing and evaluation work. New policies are being put in place now that put our anonymity as evaluators at risk, and even if you've been with the company a long time, you don't feel valued in any way.

Field Evaluators Overworked, WAY Underpaid = Total Burnout

Great travel perks and resume-builder

Long hours; potential last minute itinerary add-ons, changes, and/or cancellations; way under minimum wage when you factor in the dollars per hour that you work. Prior to me joining, evaluators were given an extra day on their assignments and were discouraged from going full-time due to high turnover and burnout. After I joined, assignment times were shortened and we were encouraged to take on more assignments and to combine our personal vacations with nearby assignments. If we accepted evaluation jobs while on vacation, FTG did not cover our expenses in between assignments or getting to/from the site. The company is cheap and they abuse their evaluators! Absolutely ZERO work/life balance if you want to earn enough money to pay the bills. False reviews for certain brands who pay premiums to maintain their 5* rating (won't shame them publicly).

Questionable Over-reliance on Contractors

Great people. Everyone was friendly and there were decent attempts to get the whole office to interact with each other.
Cons
Over-reliance on free or cheap tools Possible misuse of independent contractors. It made sense for the field inspectors to be IC but some people in the office were "employees" and others were "independent contractors" but they still had to work the same hours in the same office doing the same job as the ones who got benefits. Didn't seem fair, seems to violate IRS rules, but I guess a company this big wouldn't be that stupid. Left for better opportunities anyway.

Poor management of contractors, long hours, low pay

Flexibility, ability to work from home or in the office for contractors, easy to take time off, frequent social gatherings, gain extensive knowledge of the travel industry
Cons
Freelance contractors are not treated as true contractors, and are expected to be almost constantly on call, limiting other freelance opportunities. Pay is very low for the amount of work and quality of work/attention to detail expected. Contractors are poorly managed with little support from middle and upper management. The level of detail required can make the work very tedious. Poor employee retention for contractors and entry-level staff.
