    I worked at Ford & Harrison full-time

    Pros

Good pay. Fun to have access to Atlantic Station.

    Cons

Turnover and management. Downsizing of office space.

  2. "Practice Assistant"

    I worked at Ford & Harrison full-time

    Pros

Health benefits and opportunities for retirement savings are adequate. I have never heard anyone complain about the physical office environment. Most co-workers are willing to assist you when deadlines are fast approaching.

    Cons

Salary range for practice assistants is based on a bizarre calculation of regional norms. Policies, as interpreted in different offices, are not always clear and can change from one week to the next depending upon who you ask.

    Advice to Management

Treat the staff the way you want to be treated. Just because a policy might be good for the firm doesn't mean the trickle down will be beneficial for staff.

I worked at Ford & Harrison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

None I can think of. Miserable work environment with unhappy people. VERY LITTLE PTO and no time off during holidays or in instances of safety/bad weather. You will be expected to come to work during hurricanes and snow/ice storms.

    Cons

Poor leadership and management. Firm operates on “good ole boys” system and communication among firm is zero. Management is unfriendly and narcissistic. Treat staff very poorly here, spread very thin, and most are underpaid. Cheap when it comes to what they want to pay staff and associates, compared to others in the city. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you are considering employment.

    Advice to Management

    Leadership needs complete overhaul.

I worked at Ford & Harrison full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The headquarters are in a nice location and close to the gym which is perfect for when you need to workout bc of all the stress and anxiety they put you through. For the most part, the administrative staff is very nice.

    Cons

Management is filled with a bunch of narcissists, lifers stay because they are brainwashed into believing that the low pay is worth the "firm events" (sorry cupcake wars and chili cook off is not worth the lack fair pay). Everyone I worked with that I was close to has since left bc of the toxic, chauvinist culture.

    Advice to Management

Pay people what they are worth. Stop being cheap.

I worked at Ford & Harrison full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of learning opportunities, chances to assume responsibility, and interesting bonus structure.

    Cons

Some of the partners have negotiated truly terrible rates with insurance companies and the flat fee arrangement is often to the detriment of clients. Not a great firm for contract attorneys.

    Advice to Management

Stronger focus on keeping partners accountable for work product and more transparency into firm finances.

I worked at Ford & Harrison full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Typical workday is 7.5 hours, but you'll wish it was shorter than that. Nice restaurants in nearby area, oh wait.

    Cons

Micromanagement, inconsistent leadership & stagnant practice. This practice routinely quotes fees for clients than increases them when invoices are sent out.

    Horrible vacation time/PTO for employees.

    Pros

The lawyers are good and experienced, many nice people. Good work-life balance. Don't see a lot of weekend e-mail traffic.

    Cons

Old school re associates and business development; losing good people. Older partners do not share business generation even if associate active in helping bring the business in.
