I worked at Forest City full-time

    Pros

Great benefits and a healthy work environment. They give you all the tools to succeed, but it's up to you to put in the work.

    Cons

Commission sales can be stressful. You also miss out on benifits such as paid time off and such. However, if you are doing well, it doesn't really matter.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work! Enjoyed my time there and learned a great deal along the way. Wouldn't have left if a truly great opportunity hadn't of come along.

    Pros

Great co workers. A great scenery to work around. Residents are nice and the benefits are great. Stable forty hour weeks.

    Cons

Poor management. No sense of direction at all. Just a number to management. Poor pay for how successfully the economic and company is doing.

    Advice to Management

Your employees reflect off of management. If you have a lazy manager, you’re going to have lazy employees.

    Cons

No growth! Terrible pay! If you don't have at least VP behind your title then your in a dead end JOB!

    Advice to Management

Need to respect your employees better. You get what you give!

I worked at Forest City full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Severance Package for people who've been there awhile. I don't know why anyone would take a job there now.

    Cons

Everything else. Like working in a flaming planeload of zombies waiting to crash. Staff is demoralized. Management is all about their own incentives. No humanity whatsoever. Everything feels dirty and deceitful. All self serving. A hundred year old company stripped for parts and plundered. Tragic and wasteful.

    Advice to Management

Sell fast. Put this whole thing out of its collective misery. Go count your money and try to ease your collective consciouses, if you still have them.

I worked at Forest City full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers, good work environment, acceptable work-life balance. Company is heavily involved with the community, and it is easy to participate in activities as your personal schedule allows

    Cons

Management makes drastic decisions frequently, and the heads of some departments play favorites with employees regardless of their actual abilities and qualifications

    Advice to Management

Be more upfront about upcoming changes, it is difficult to be confident in your employer when you are constantly worried for you job

I worked at Forest City full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If I have to put something, I would say job security

    Cons

Management is extremely disrespectful to their employees. If you have a problem, you have no one to turn to. If your being stalked by a resident, you will be asked "well what did you do to deserve that". The corp. office HR team is laughable, except its not funny... You wake up dreading to come to work, because you are taken advantage of on every aspect and never appreciated. How can 6 people leave in a one year time frame, and no one raises and brow as to why employees are fleeing from this location. Exit interviews done by your direct manager, when they are the main reason you leave? If you are interested in a Chicago location, do yourself a favor and run!

    Advice to Management

It is very clear people are in their positions because of favoritism, but clearly you have a problem that needs to be looked into... you should call all of your recent former employees to ask what the real problem is, because I am not the only one that feels this way. Truly ask yourself, "why have so many people left in such a short time frame, something has to be wrong".
