I worked at Forest Labs (More than 10 years)

    Pros

started out nice with stock options galore and a nice small pharma attitude of work smart work hard to get the business.

    Cons

Then became check the boxes so you don't get in trouble numbers be damned. bloated big pharma. Had I known then what I know now would have moved on years earlier. but those stocks turned from golden handcuffs to lead weights keeping you there.

    Pros

Flexibility to fit in duties as a parent.
Decent support with samples, collateral and contact with managers
Plenty of room for entertainment expense

    Cons

    Drug pipeline was limited.
Some management seemed to not have the respect of upper management
Training was thorough but did not prepare you for the field
Struggle with drugs that were considered"old"
Felt like a food delivery boy

    Advice to Management

Would prefer that there was a better "real world" training system. Use actual doctors, nurses, etc. for training. Figure out a better way to provide information that would help the doctors pay attention. Look for creativity outside of Pharma Code. So much money is spent on non-decision makers to get to to the decision maker.

I worked at Forest Labs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Former CEO Howard Solomon cared about employees. Great work atmosphere and great people! Stock options offered to all employees...a great perk!

    Cons

New CEO is opposite of the mentality of former CEO. All forest locations were shut down. Employees were laid off.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes it felt like one bad apple spoiled the bunch. If there is an employee that gets out of control and is part of management. Management can not just sit and watch. It does not motivate employees when one manager's unacceptable behavior is accepted while other employees behavior is not.

    Pros

Forest provided me with great skills during my tenure there. The employees are very professional and worked diligently for the company.

    Cons

Unfortuntely due to a merger Forest is no longer the same company it used to be. Now there are less employees and most of the locations are now closed.
