    Pros

Great benefits, health insurance is top knotch.

    Cons

Crap and unstable schedule. Really bad work/life balance

    Advice to Management

Retrain your supervisors, many are oblivious to the issues that are in front of their face. They will lie on the status of their department to appease the VP's and management.

I have been working at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park Association full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, mean what they say about ethics and integrity - great tuition reimbursement program. Solid salaries, makes huge efforts towards employee appreciation. Service culture orientation towards families. Takes their sacred duties seriously. Management really cares about employees - honesty and integrity are make or break qualities. If you can't walk the talk, you will not make it here.

    Cons

Limited mobility beyond entry level supervisor.

    Advice to Management

Growth limitations beyond supervisor level can be demoralizing. Great opportunities below and to that level. Need to figure out ways to reward excellence with growth opportunities beyond entry level management.

    Pros

The families really appreciate your assistance.

    Cons

Management is biased borderline bigoted and company policies and procedures are unfair and allow management to pick winners and losers.

    Advice to Management

Quit and get a job at walmart.

    Pros

Good people, family like atmosphere, hard but rewarding work.

    Cons

You need to understand you're serving people at a very difficult time in their lives and its not for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Don't read the negative in these posts. You need to know that people who love to serve others will always be successful and those who don't will fail at what they do.

I worked at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park Association full-time

    Pros

Working directly with the families is an incredible experience. It's an honor to help families throughout a challenging process. This is work that you will carry with you for life.

    Cons

No one is allowed to do their job without micro-managing and game play. Good people who work hard and are dedicated to families are fired regularly. You have to play games to get ahead in the non-profit world of funeral service. It's more about playing politics than serving customers.

    Advice to Management

Clean out top management and get back to the business of focusing on grieving families.

I worked at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park Association (Less than a year)

    Pros

I got to talk to a lot of families and the employees were very friendly

    Cons

My contracted status limited what information I could give to the families and so I was basically an answering machine. Also I was called after work one day and was told that, that day had been my last day at work without an explanation.

    Advice to Management

Take consideration of even the contracted employees and give feedback when you end their contract.

I worked at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park Association full-time

    Pros

Working with families to help them find loved ones when visiting park.

    Cons

Sales driven by ethnicity no access to robust lead system for everyone, no support by management to help build up your client base, churn and burn, every man for himself.

    Advice to Management

Have a real base for 12 months so employee can really build up contacts and generate living wage income and not work for free.

"Don't believe the higher rated reviews. A lot of them are HR reps trying to increase company ratings."

I worked at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park Association full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits packages are competitive with the industry but could be better considering the pay scale for lower salaried employees doesn't reflect what's shelled out on benefits bi-weekly.

    Cons

Favoritism and nepotism to the HIGHEST degree, no room to advance, very high stress levels (pay does not reflect what lower tier employees have to endure on the job), departmental besmirching (others not taking ownership for their mistakes), open 365 days a year (if you enjoy family time, spousal time, ect this is not the place for you)

    Advice to Management

Terrible management practices have been observed by higher authoritative figures in the company and nothing has been done about every day injustices a lot of employees receive. I've witnessed first hand everything from employee demoralization to wrongful terminations. A lot of the lower tier employees are scared to speak up for themselves because they have no faith in HR. They are afraid to use their voices because of the inevitability that they will be singled out and ultimately fired some how some way. Forest Lawn prides itself on their "culture" but what they don't tell you is the sub culture within that culture that promotes conformity to their way of doing things. One last thing to note is that pay does not reflect job duties for the most part in this company. You have a whole service arrangements department that is responsible for EVERYTHING after a service is arranged by a memorial counselor which is a very high stress, time stringent, high attention to detail department yet starting wages are $14-$15 an hour. You have a reception team that has to be customer service experts and be able to adapt to all walks of life as well as know a tiny bit of each and every department at forest lawns facilities to be able to do their jobs who also start at $14-$15 an hour. Forest Lawns average salaries for job postings is 30% lower than average salaries NATIONWIDE (facts google it). So no, their wages are not competitive if you plan on starting from the bottom. My advice, where tons of Chapstick if you want to take it here.

I have been working at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park Association full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, great education assistance and a lot of work and steady environment. Like the way how they treat their employees with respect.

    Cons

Pay scale could increase and be more competitive. Well that's all I can think of. Over all great company if you ask me.

    Advice to Management

    Promote within and better raises.
