    Pros

Amazing people and office environment, it feels like a family. A company that wants you to succeed and push yourself. They tell you up front that you have to put in the work, that is the only way you will have a solid book and see money coming in. If you slack off you check will reflect that once you are off the training salary and become IC.

    Cons

No cons, anytime something is not working for the training program, it is changed to better fit your needs.

    Advice to Management

    none.

I have been working at Foresters Financial as an intern

    Pros

Ability to talk with management personal, asking any questions the come to mind without being demeaned.
Chance to learn how to explain the tools available in a clear, concise manner.
Desires to help the Interns, whether they remain at Foresters of move to another company.

As an unpaid internship, this is perfect! You are not preforming any work for the company or advisers, instead you're learning from a structured syllabus and thier personal examples. If you're considering Financial Planning, this is an awesome way to gain a better understanding of the field and create strong networks along the way.

    Cons

Occasionally you come in on a day that is tremendously busy, during which you have some down time. It would be beneficial to have all the materials given throughout the internship at the beginning, so you could always study upcoming topics.
It would also be beneficial to both management and the interns if we preformed a doodle-bib or some form of scheduling tool prior to day 1, allowing the interns to better plan out their summer and fit in other internships.

    Advice to Management

I cannot say if this is the same internship format in other locations, however I feel strongly that this is exactly what an unpaid position should be. While I hope this is the same format across the board, if it is not I would recommend implementing the format being used here in other locations as well.
