I worked at FormFactor full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I got to do a lot of different things. Formfactor supports mobility within the company. I got to work with a lot of very talented people. Livermore is a reverse commute for most people. Formfactor has a nice facility. Probecard design is challenging so it stays interesting.

    Cons

Formfactor fell into a mode of blame and mismanagement, but that era is behind them. Word on the street is the work environment has improved drastically.

    Advice to Management

Keep paying attention to the folks getting the work done and not just the filtered info passed up the ranks. Encourage cooperation between different groups.

Custom design for each product makes it interesting that things keep on evolving.
Opportunity to work abroad in the international offices around the world.

    Cons

Long working hours. Pressure to perform perfectly with zero room for errors. Focus only on the delivered result, no appreciation on the process.

    Advice to Management

Would be good if the working hour is managed more properly to avoid the need for employee to stay overtime to catch up with deadlines or targets.

    Pros

Great opportunity working with a talented team. Fairly autonomous with what you can do so long as organization objectives are achieved. Good staff cafeteria.

    Pros

Technology is very good and unique, work in general is interesting and dynamic, very talented and capable technical people. Although work load may not allow it at present, management is supportive of work-life balance as a principal. Fundamentally in a good niche market with high long term potential

    Cons

Scrambling to regain market share, many parallel technical efforts being pushed without adequate staffing and resources - too hectic and dynamic. Attrition is getting to be high,
and in a place where systems are not in place, that is a significant loss of know-how, making it difficult for the persons remaining to carry on. Company grew too fast for its own good.
Company prefers to getting outsiders (from more established companies) for key leadership positions rather than growing employees from within.

    Advice to Management

Need to be more customer friendly,
    Develop and promote from within,
Invest in systems to reduce inefficiencies and costly errors.
Develop competency in other areas in addition to spring technology.

    Pros

    Interesting technology and smart coworkers.

    Cons

Not much strategic direction fromsenior management. It does not seem that the management cares much about the employees.

    Advice to Management

Refocus the company on product excellence during this downturn. Drve product development thorugh a realstic development process.
