I have been working at Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary is very competitive, supervisors are generally very flexible with needing to take time off for personal reasons

    Cons

Little room for advancement, interdependency of different units makes large projects complicated, purchasing department makes even simple purchases way too complicated and time consuming.

I have been working at Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. full-time

    Pros

Great pay but that's about it the rest about the plant is terrible

    Cons

Plant is shutting down they never gave any care about the people actually working trying to keep the plant running.

    Advice to Management

If you got all new management and people up front and a real chemical engineer the plant would still be running.

I have been working at Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. full-time

    Pros

Relatively high salary for the middle-of-nowhere location.
    Comfortable office.
    Good benefits.
    Substantial bonus.
Ideal place for raising a family until retirement.
Very stable jobs (on the other hand, nobody is motivated)
To succeed here, you need to know how to manipulate gossips.

    Cons

You need to be Taiwanese in order to rank up.
The culture is very conservative and the focus is on pleasing the baby-boomers.
Their technology and knowledge froze since the 1990s. If you have worked for competitors before joining FPC, you'd feel like stone age here.
There's not much to do really, thus not the place to learn. By the time you graduate from FPC, you'd feel like you've wasted your life here because you will be far from competitive.
It's all about building a good relationship with the high-ups.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the people that only care about their own retirement. They are eating up the younger workforce and opportunities to profit.
Open up your windows and doors and connect with the outside world. A lot of solutions you are currently seeking have been solved and shared by other companies years ago.

I worked at Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

great benefits package and and perhaps a good place to start a career.

    Cons

the politics laced with nepotism. very blatant favoritism that is not always merit based. the software is extremely outdated and inefficient and not even designed for the work we do on it. i also had the unfortuate experience with a manager that had an extensive history of bullying people to the point that they quit or flee to another position. in fact the position I had was available because the person before me was sick of the mistreatment and took a lower level position.

Best benefits all around, stability. salary steadily increases each year.

    Cons

politics. not for everyone. distinctive chinese culture - very different from american culture. if you can't get used to it or be willing to integrate, this place is not for you.

I worked at Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This is a great place to get a new career started. There was never a dull moment and there were plenty of opportunities to get involved with. Benefits used to be amazing as they would pay for insurance 100%, but this is no longer the case.

    Cons

Located in the middle of nowhere. The software used is outdated. Everything just felt like it would take forever. Projects have to go through a very bureaucratic process and could be months or even years to get it back. Favoritism and politics run rampant and a few of the Taiwanese managers are hard to deal with.

    Advice to Management

There is a big disconnect between the plant in TX and the corporate headquarters in NJ. It was very frustrating seeing the corporate HQ make decisions about the plant when many of them have never stepped foot inside the plant.

    Pros

It is very hard to get fired

    Cons

Some upper management should have been let go long ago. Taiwanese culture, makes it hard to progress in your career if you are american

    Advice to Management

Value all of your employees equally and re-evaluate management
