I worked at Formosa Plastics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good company but it is a Taiwanese culture. 85 % of employment is Taiwanese. You must understand their culture as it is different then a typical company.

    Cons

Employees at this company tend not to speak their mind. Often it impossible to understand what management wants.

    Advice to Management

Diversify and hire more main stream American employees. The hidden culture of the company makes it difficult to get things done.

I have been working at Formosa Plastics full-time

    Pros

Pay is average, but benefits were paid for. You will top out in pay after 4 years. Great job security, never felt threatened by layoffs even when the economy was in a slump.

    Cons

Extremely understaffed, which can lead to unsafe work conditions. Was impossible to get a straight answer from Manager concerning why we are understaffed. Having to be On-Call 1 week, every 5th or 6th week.

    Advice to Management

Staff properly. It will save more money in the long run. Management also needs to be more open minded and aware of employee moral.

    Pros

The company is huge and vertically integrated so you learn a lot from the various departments.

    Cons

Days can be fairly boring. A lot of times you have to wait for others to finish their work before you can proceed so it might get bored.
