I worked at Fort HealthCare full-time

    Pros

Co-workers were amazing for the most part.
    Fast-paced.
    Worked with my schedule.
    Continuous education.

    Cons

High stress (Emergency Department), this was expected however.
Management was very unorganized and never around

    Advice to Management

Get someone who is more educated at management techniques.

I have been working at Fort HealthCare part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The staff tend to keep each other together, not management.

    Cons

FHC has nothing to offer. Under market pay, almost unaffordable insurance, insignificant pay increases (4 years later and less than $1), no effort on appreciation days, managers treat staff like they are a problem regardless of how well they perform, lies are normal ...etc Doctoral staff are threatened/disrespected with few remaining...check it out. One clinic had 2 managers (Jamie Bracken and Angie Heald) treat everyone with such disrespect that they are not allowed back (but allowed at other clinics??)

    Advice to Management

Find your replacement with someone capable...preferably intillegent, and cares for the patients, not the $$. An understanding of how to manage staff and operations would be nice.

    Pros

Employees in patient care genuinely care about their patients. There are many "diamond in the rough" MDs, NPs, PAs that do not get the credit they deserve.

    Cons

Many department managers allow the staffs to control the atmosphere of the clinic/department as a whole. In at least one case in particular, this results in a clique-based, popularity contest scenario.
Additionally, FHC's upper management lacks honesty in its communications with its employees. Lots of dirt swept under the proverbial rug here...

    Advice to Management

Start asking your employees to evaluate your managers and LISTEN to what they have to say. Stop evading questions regarding the health of your organization.

I have been working at Fort HealthCare part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I work for the health insurance and I've been thankful to receive benefits as a part-time employee

    Cons

The health insurance is expensive but at least we have coverage.

    Advice to Management

Getting rid of "slacker" employees would be nice -- those who take advantage of the 12 weeks of paid time off for "health" reasons and those who call in "sick" too often.

    Pros

Great environment. Great people. The hospital atmosphere more heart-warming than any other hospital I have been too.

    Cons

Small town where everyone knows everyone. This can be good or bad.

    Advice to Management

    none

    Pros

Local healthcare provider with admirable mission and vision. Close to home for professionals that live in Jefferson County. Comparable wages to outlying communities.

    Cons

EMR implementation has had difficulty. Staff turnover has over burdened other staff members. Inadequate amount of time allowed to train new hires leaves them feeling overwhelmed.

    Advice to Management

Greater support of nursing staff would be appreciated. Adequate staffing to cover patient needs. More complete training of new employees to empower them in their positions.

    Pros

Management was good to the staff most of the time. They really did try to listen to what you had to say.

    Cons

Many doctors at a certain clinic were not very friendly, nor nice to staff. Now I cannot say that about all clinics, because I had an AMAZING OB doctor, but thats becides the point. It is basically one clinic that is pretty bad about respect doctor to employee wise.

    Advice to Management

Really, work on making the doctors responsible for their actions towards employees. Everyone should be treated with respect not just the doctors.
