I have been working at Fortinet full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They pay well, there is advancement opportunity, a flexible work schedule, and plenty of certification training opportunities. They are conveniently located next to Bush and the Dallas North Tollway. The Inside Sales folks are very helpful, professional, encouraging, and helpful.

    Cons

They need a bigger kitchen. There's a lot of construction nearby. It's planned for the next year according to the NTTA. They have some Millennials there, and this is their first or second job.T

    Advice to Management

You need an onsite Manager or Supervisor to oversee the Plano Business Development Department.

I have been working at Fortinet full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

R&D managers and directors are all hands-on people and technically skilled. They don't waste their time in endless meetings.
As an engineer who enjoy technologies, this is a great place to work.

    Cons

Not much team and fun activities

    Advice to Management

Be careful with your hiring process. Friend hiring friend is not a problem if the friend (new hire) knows what he's doing, is motivated and willing to learn. Hiring friend simply because he's a friend introduces unfair treatment in the team

I have been working at Fortinet full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fortinet has a high-energy collaborative sales culture with sales leadership that really cares about their people and promotes from within. In my 20+ months here I’ve seen a half dozen sales reps, including myself, earn promotions, and it’s a work hard/play hard culture that offers a nice work/life balance. The technology is world-class and the company is investing in all the right places with a goal of becoming the #1 cyber security company worldwide.

    Cons

Like most high-tech sales organizations, there have been some organizational changes, and even though they're the right changes positioning the company for continued long-term success, there is a short-term adjustment period for everyone involved.

    Advice to Management

It's obvious management is listening to the field sales organization and our customers because the recent investments are all in the right place - keep your foot on the gas pedal!

I have been working at Fortinet full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great CEO and upper management who understand the industry deeply and have the great vision and excecution.
Company is growing fast in a hot industry.
Smart, hard working, and friendly engineers.
VPs and managers of engineering are engineers themselves and many are with the company for a long time. They know what they are doing and make right decisions. Because of the compentency of the engineering managment, there is absolutely zero politics in the work place. Everyone just works hard to deliver. Management knows what you do and rewards are based on performance unlike many other companies where rewards and promotions are based politics, how well you talk or whether you are boss's buddies. This really makes a difference on the happiness of engineers and the overall efficiency of project execution.
Have solid but reasonable work load. You'll have things to do all the time but don't need to work overtime or on weekends. Work life balance is good, people do take vacations and managements are cool on it.
Fortinet is absolutely NOT a "Chinese style sweat shop" company as someone labels it. The whole company including HR is working hard to offer the best working environments and make it a great company in silicon valley. I have worked for giant and small companies in the valley before Fortinet, I can tell you that the company culture is typical to a public company in the valley but without politics. There were some tough times in terms of work load or management style in the past especially before IPO according to some people being with the company for a long time, but all has been changed and improved during the past a few years. It now has the startup efficiency and big company's work/life balance. This is the best combination and my concern is how to keep the startup efficiency when the company is growing bigger so fast!

    Cons

Communication from middle/uppder management to the employees are on the lean side.
No cafeteria and only free dinner.

    Advice to Management

I believe in CEO's vision and upper managment's execution.
Keep doing what you are doing now and it has been working well. Investing in sales/marketing, improving work place and bringing more fun activities to the hard working employees.
