    Pros

Do your homework. Look at the tenure of employment. Free
dried/old bagels on Fridays. And Free teas but the water
containers/pips are all rusted out (not safe to drink from).

    Cons

-The company has no internal directory (No Org chart) so it's difficult to find contacts.
-Stingy upper management, they have employees to put more time so management
      can save a few.
-Cheap Chinese Management. For example, company HQ all-hands lunches are frozen prepared food
& need to use microwave to defrost it. Long wait line at microwave ... And it
      tastes really old and crappy.
-Teams are driven to meet unrealistic scheduled. It is a total sweat shop
     and hustle environment.
-!!! Long wait time to use bathroom !!!
-HQ QA/FortiLab/Engineering labs are very dis-organized; Additionally labs A/C does not work
many times, and they have high-paid Engineers/Managers/Directors to carry & dump
the water bucket from A/C to bathrooms every day 2-3 times daily. Instead
of spending some money to fix the A/C.
-Many Engineers in R&D are nice but don't understand English well.
-Marketing directors are non-technical and have slave shop mentality.
-Fortinet used to have multiple different teams for Security, Facility, shipping, and
receiving, procurement department but now is all ONE department with skelton crew.
-Medical/dental is Cigna, no good Doctor is in the network list. Cigna
      don't pay for dental implant.
-Constant construction with heavy machinary on the floor while everyone is working and employees have
to endure the noise, dust ..
    -FTNT Manage by fear!
-No proper training for the employees.
-High turnout, too many firing/lay offs at all level. Most frequent layoffs
are at Marketing (too many), Sales (a lot), HR (very frequent), facility (only
2 left, contractors changes all the time), MFG, PM and Engineering.
-Long hours, including weekends and late at nights, company will shut
the light at 7PM (to save money) but employess are suppose to work in the dark.
-Engineering team get FREE dinner everynight but no other department in
      the company get free dinners.
    -Micro-managers at all level.
    -Too many more to list.

    Advice to Management

Spend some money on your employees, not buying another surrending property.

I have been working at Fortinet full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent compensation
    Good learning curve
    Good work-life balance
    (*Depends on the Team Manager)

    Cons

Some teams function like start-ups without any order.
No facilities like gym and food in cafeteria.

    Advice to Management

    - More facilities has to be provided for employees like cafeteria food and gym since the company is growing and there are around 1000 employees in the campus.
    - Mail rooms should be managed better - anyone can pick a box just by just saying any name.
    - Ergonomic assessment should be considered while an employee is initially assigned a desk.
    - Acquired companies should be guided better to align with the company to perform effectively.
    - Cultural festivals could be celebrated in office instead of Bingo and Lucky draw for every occasion.

I worked at Fortinet full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It is a company that is continuing to grow in the network security space with a focus on intellectual property development.

    Cons

The company places huge emphasis on the sales organization and next would come engineering. However, I feel that the support organization (i.e., marketing, finance, IT, HR, legal) is often shortchanged and overlooked by management.

    Advice to Management

While a growing stock price helps to keep employees on board for a period of time, it doesn't necessarily foster long term loyalty. Fortinet has been cash flow positive for quite some time now, but it really doesn't spend much money on its employees. In order to attract the most dynamic talent, you need to work on some of your incentives.

    Pros

Great products, great benefits, decent compensation plan but on target earnings are not very achievable. Good supporting sales tools and competitive data.

    Cons

Management lacks realistic sales expectations. Reorganization happens every quarter. MSP business model for targeted accounts lacks architecture to support sales for all product sets. Processes and procedures are outdated.

    Advice to Management

Set realistic expectations on accounts and set sales people up for success.

    Pros

They pay well, there is advancement opportunity, a flexible work schedule, and plenty of certification training opportunities. They are conveniently located next to Bush and the Dallas North Tollway. The Inside Sales folks are very helpful, professional, encouraging, and helpful.

    Cons

They need a bigger kitchen. There's a lot of construction nearby. It's planned for the next year according to the NTTA. They have some Millennials there, and this is their first or second job.T

    Advice to Management

You need an onsite Manager or Supervisor to oversee the Plano Business Development Department.

I have been working at Fortinet full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The technology and vision are excellent. The company is financially stable and the benefits are good.

    Cons

My experience is that cronyism and favoritism are key to your success here just like being in the right clique in high school. Working hard, making your number, and going the extra mile to help the team make its number does not seem to be a good reason to be treated well. In addition, I'm fielding increased customer complaints due to support and quality issues so be prepared to front-end those as well as dealing with the moving quota targets as described by other reviews. The compensation and benefits are great if you're one of the "lucky" ones but you can be starved to death if you're not. In addition, it is my opinion that the latest sales compensation plan changes are not to my benefit.

    Advice to Management

Reward the achievers based on objective performance metrics. Set goals and account assignments at the beginning of a quarter, not half way through and then give closing deals to your "buddies." Employees that poach accounts and sales credit and managers that let them should be terminated. Establish a fair, objective, and clear splits policy based on sales close contribution and be inflexible in enforcing it. Establish how accounts with subsidiaries are to be handled clearly, enforce splits evenly and assign quota appropriately.

    Pros

You will be successful if you comfortable working in a Chinese management style company. Typical salary and benefits for industry and Bay Area.

    Cons

Cheap/frugal on expenses. If you are an acquired company, expect your tenure to last 12 -18 months max, especially if you are a manager or above. Limited internal promotion movement. Lots of senior management turnover.
